I've been searching the nets for the last few days but haven't been able to answer this question. I'm wanting to know if it's retroactive because if it's not there are some pets I'd like to stop leveling until they can be upgraded. I copied a character to the PTR with a bunch of crated pets for battling and wasn't able to get any battle-stones to test with. For some reason my PTR account doesn't have MoP while my regular account does and some things like trainer battles are missing. For that reason I'm not sure if battle-stones are very rare or MoP is required.
If anyone knows for sure it would make my friends and I much happier about continuing to level our pets!
Do battle-stones raise a pets stats retroactively?
Re: Do battle-stones raise a pets stats retroactively?
Logicaly I'm assuming they will, and if they won't, they should. I don't play the PTR myself though so can't confirm it. However, I'm simply going by the assumption that the stats will the raised retroactively, and so level my pets based on that notion.
Sorry it ain't much information you didn't already know there, but it's my 2 cents.

The rarity of a pet is a stats multiplier...
poor = x 1
common = x 1.1
uncommon = x 1.2
rare = x 1.3
So your pet gets scaled acordingly when using a battle stone

Will a stone raise a pet from poor to rare, or will that require 3 stones?

Thanks folks! The info is much appreciated.
Gwenolyn, I think it just needs one stone, since the tooltip says any pet.
