Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
For Taran Zhu I tried out an interesting strategy that was pretty solid:
Chi Chi (alpha strike, wild magic, and feign)
Infected Squirrel (Just need creeping fungus and stampede)
Stitched Pup (Diseased Bite, Howl, and Consume
Open with chi-chi and:
1. Wild Magic
2. Feign (avoids the stun as well)
3. Use Creeping Fungus
4. Stampede
5. Stampede continues (he feigns this round)
6. Stampede continues on next guy (first guy dies in back row)
7. Creeping Fungus (squirrel usually dies here)
8. Stampede on undead round
At this point, I use the stitched pup to finish him up with Diseased bite (he might blind you for two rounds, but you can always consume on one of those to make up for it.
For the third monk: howl > diseased bite > he heals so use diseased bite to counter it > diseased bite until he dies.
On the off chance you get a bad miss and completely die. Chi Chi can finish him off with alpha strike

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [US and EU tips]
I want to take a moment to thank EVERYONE who contributed teams and strategies to this and other threads.
I was so discouraged when I started, because even though I thought I had a pretty diverse and deep bench, I just couldn't finish. Last week, I FINALLY won the tournament, and I credit every poster in these forums for my success. I had to substitute a few pets here and there, and occasionally substitute when lucky crits killed my 'first pick' before I finished, but even then my choices were based on suggestions and strategies others had offered.
So, to all you pet addicts who battled over and over again, tested your teams and then shared the results of your hard work with the rest of us,
THANK YOU.

This... would be great if one get the chance to cast both whirlpool AND geyser. So fas Xu-Fu killed my water spirit every time before i could cast both spells.Cyzzle wrote:Xu- Fu
Unborn Valk (1,2,2)
Pandaren Water Spirit (1,2,2)
Chrominius (1,1,2)
So, throw up doom, hit one until the extra turn because your valk is dead. Then unholy. Then flip to the water spirit. Geyser. Whirlpool. Then Chrominius. Then Howl. Then Surge of Power.

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [US and EU tips]
In the original post of this thread Imention an Unborn Valk / Lil Bling strategy that takes out 2 beasts with no heal needed. It took me a lot of flying time and camping ( did pet pPvP whilewaiting) but the VCallis worth its wait for sure
These2 pets and a warbot make a team that alone beats zao and xufu
Good luck

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [US and EU tips]
I had issues with ChiChi and Wrathion due to rng the past 2 weeks so I edited OP to add better strategy approaches
Though the tourney for 4 pets is over I hope the thread will still be a resource

What do ya mean the Tournament's "over"? It's a weekly thing that all players can continue to do.

He is just refering to the fact that most of us have the four pets by now. I'm still doing it every week for the coins, but don't know what I'm going to spend them on yet.PWOKristy wrote:What do ya mean the Tournament's "over"? It's a weekly thing that all players can continue to do.

What is funny is that by most of us you mean the 0.5% of the population of accounts that has actually gotten the title for the 4 celestial pets. That is according to a recent analysis by MMO-Champ.
These threads are definitely still an incredibly valuable resource since they offer a variety of strategies to beat the tourney.

I edited the OP to note that the Loremaster Cho fight is easier if you go with :
1) an ooze (disgusting or living fluid)
2) Emerald proto whelp(p/p is best)
then... 3) Quiraji Guardling using Crush and the critical strike % booster... it hammers Cho's 3rd pet to bits
peddlefeet or the kun lai runt are other OK choices but the guardling is fantastic !!

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
I added an alternative team vs Wrathion (tested 2 weeks and easy success not even needing 3rd pet) and I added an alternative team to beat XuFu
Note - easy wins vs Zao and XuFu using 3 pets (total) only : Unborn Valk (mine is b/b) {Curse of Doom then Haunt) +Lil Bling (Inflation your way to a quick win !!) I throw in Warbot as a 3rd but have never ever needed him!
Then jump to Xufu with your revived Unborn Valk (he'll have 900 or so xp) do CoD then Haunt - you can shadow shock him for the 3rd turn too then switch to Lil Bling (who will also have enough hp) and Inflation - If Lil Bling dies then Warbot (use Missile only) takes XuFu's tiny hp left!
-----
After 25+ celestial tourneys that team has only failed me twice- I always start at Zao then go to XuFu ..If Zao kills your Valk you can try this vs XuFu:
DMZeppelin(decoy/missile) + s/s Zand.Kneebiter(B.Claw-Huntingparty) + Zand.Footslasher(any breed -think mine was p/p-hunting party)

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
I put a 2nd team vs Dr Jon ...After 10+ times doing this fight, my nexus whelp team finally lost so I used this team I read about:
Dr.Jon ~ Team 2 - Emerald Whelpling (h/s breed if possible) / Son of Animus (he kicks butt in this fight) / Emerald protoWhelp ... 2 different weeks tested and didnt need the 3rd pet either time ..should be a solid option

New teams and commentary posted for Dr.Ion / Loremaster Cho and Pickle
Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
Is the first post your "best" teams? Or preferred teams might be a better word?
I find that a P/P Qiraji Guardling/Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling/Viscidus Ooze decimates Wise Mari.
For Kiryn any of the shale hatchlings with Burn/Poison Spit/Stoneskin trivialize the turrets. Bonus points if you get your Macabre Marionette to apply the double damage debuff to Stormoen before your MM dies.
In the end there are a lot of different ways to do the tourney, especially as we get more and more pets.

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
For Kiryn I do agree that a hatchling is very effective but I find that it needs to be faster than her second pet (272 speed) to be effective or you take a pretty sizable amount of damage from batter before you get Stoneskin up. Not a problem if your first pet dies to Call Lightning and you can cast it on the turn Stormoen casts the Turrets but if you happen to be using an Undead like the MM which for me typically dies to the Call Lightning and is on his rez turn for Turrets it makes a big difference.
You can also run Web/Leach on the hatchling as a little slower but safer option and being faster isn't as critical IMO.

Re: Celestial Tournament 101 [Full tourney + 4 beasts tips]
Just completed it again. Had a problem with Yu'La; Normally I use 3 Anubisath Idols, but I guess the RNG was unkind to me this time. After failing about 12 times I was running out of live pets. What finally did the trick was a Frostfur Rat and two Flayer Younglings.
