How is it possible that I have the achieves
- Taming Kalimdor
- Taming Outland
- Taming Northrend
- Taming Cataclysm
- Taming Pandaria
- And obviously Taming Azeroth
but I'm stuck at 39/40 for Taming the World? How do I figure out what's missing?

Do you have Taming Eastern Kingdoms?

I don't see that achievement at all on my horde toons. Logging onto my ally character shows it completed, though. Taming the World still sits at 39/40 for my ally toon.

Supposedly, Blizz made Taming EK alliance only and Taming Kalimdor horde only when 5.1 was released.

Have you opened a ticket about it?

Submitting my billionth or so ticket since this patch dropped. Last time I waited 2 days for them to tell me to submit it as a bug.

I battled the first EK tamer again on my ally toon just to check and it suddenly awarded me Taming the World. No hat, though. In and out of raid instances, nothing. Oi.

I know that by last response from Blizzard this achievement was bugged. I suppose I will check to see if it is still so.

I found my issue last night. I had done Taming Eastern Kingdoms on my Ally but due to shared achievements and such when I swapped to my horde I'd see that Taming Kalimdor was done. I had thought I had done them all but I went around battling them all and actually found a couple I hadn't done.

Because you only need one or the other for Taming the World when you swap over it looks like you've done all the other ones.

It's a pain but I recommend just flying around and battling all the tamers again. Good way to level some pets and ensure you've got them all.

I printed a screenie of the list for each and just crossed them out as I did them...old school I know but better to be sure than miss one again.
