Seeing that Sir Galveston have a thread for 3x Elementals (http://www.warcraftpets.com/community/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16169), it made me wonder, if anyone is currently working on all the other trainers and pet types?
I haven't counted the number of trainers, but guessing 20ish, times 12 pet types.. It's a huge task to get all the achievements..

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
Well, we've got two years to do it.
I'm more concerned about not missing a tamer for Battle on the Broken Isles, and then, like that last apexis quest that kept not coming up, never seeing the last one for weeks.
And so far, I haven't seen anything difficult.
Oh, I just now see that The Maw is not needed for the achievement. I did that with Humanoids this morning - waste of effort, I suppose, but it's fun to see a new battle.
P.S. My basic humanoid team is
[pet]Rotten Little Helper[/pet]
[pet]Fiendish Imp[/pet] (I use S/S, but for the battles I've seen, the speed probably doesn't matter so much)
[pet]Anubisath Idol[/pet]
and one simple approach is
Helper:
[ability]Greench's Gift[/ability]
[ability]Booby-Trapped Presents[/ability]
swap to Imp:
[ability]Immolation[/ability]
[ability]Nether Gate[/ability] (swaps opponent out, Minefield goes BOOM)
[ability]Burn[/ability] until Imp is at half health
swap to Idol to tank:
[ability]Stoneskin[/ability] (usually not Sandstorm, because it messes up Imp's DoT)
[ability]Crush[/ability], with [ability]Deflection[/ability] where you see a nuke coming
When Imp is back to full health, and/or Helper has CDs available, bring them back in for another round of swap-and-BOOM.
It's a very simple team, but it works quite well for most battles I've done in Legion so far. You have to vary that a bit, of course. No point in wasting Greench's Gift on an Elemental, for example, and you may want to gate the lead pet out immediately, before Immolation, if there is an avoidance move coming up, since it's critical that the opponent doesn't avoid the Nether Gate. It wasn't doing too well on Nightwatcher Merayl, IIRC, so I used [pet]Grumpling[/pet]'s [ability]Gift of Winter's Veil[/ability] on the bird, and an S/S [pet]Bonkers[/pet] to avoid the Curses. Mostly, though, it's just counting rounds so that my key moves actually land.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
I've been doing them all with Dragon type pets and having a pretty easy time with the same line-up of:
S/S Bronze Whelp
P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp
P/P Infinite Whelp
Sometimes I have to swap their moves around but generally the plan is as follows:
If the enemy isn't terribly fast I use Bronze and take advantage of Lift-Off for avoidance and Arcane Slash for damage. The dragon passive is pretty brutal if you can get a boosted Early Advantage hit.
If the enemy IS fast I use Infinite instead and rely on Tail Sweep and, again, Early Advantage. The middle move slot is variable depending on what the fight calls for.
If the enemy relies on any sort of DoT or multi-hit strategy then Proto tanks with Emerald Presence. He also acts as my anti-flying type. I use Proto-Strike more than I use the healing sleep move.
So far I've beat the following for the achievement with this same team:
TrapperJarrum, Sir Galv, Robert Craig, Xorv, Amalia, Tinypop, Tiffany Nelson, Durian Strongfruit
S/S Bronze Whelp
P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
I would run an aqua team as some of my favourites are in there. Probably lead by crawdad "citizen snips" with "sheldon" my dankmoon turtle and also "crabastian" my Strand crawler (I would have a crab with "blood in the water" once I catch one)
This is basically because aqua is my favourite type (followed by mechanical, so if I could have two types I'd probably have my LiL' Bling in there or Mechanical Gnome as well)
I think Two crabs and a crawdad would be sick as well, all the healing and shells and stuff, would be annoying as hell.... Also try a crawdad with a LiL' Leftovers and a sea Pony or something, maybe a singing sunflower.... LoL, I'm getting away from Mono-typer battles here though and tbh my knowledge is not great yet... aqua FTW though!
would father winters helper do in the place of rotten helper until I get one in that sort of set up? they seems quite similar (I got him and snowman to make some kind of xmas themed team when winter hits)
EDIT: I guess not as the moves are way different.. I know who I want to purcahse next though when a cheap one pops up... are they all green to start with unless you buy one upgraded already, please?
also sorry for being stressful yesterday, I was having a rough time in RL and the stress was seeping into the game, my bad, I apologize.
I have those other then emerald proto.. what you think about emerald whelp in it's place? also, have you tried emigossa yet? wow, she hits hard against flyers. I have been running her with Chrominius, generally use howl then switch to emi and use her strong magic attack she has in slot 3 (the first choice) it hits really hard as well... I did have Jade owl for combating flyers, but Emigosa is shaping up to be amazing from my own limited knowledge I must admit.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
I'm starting to dabble in this, justifying it as a "rep grind." Working on all critters and so far bunnies are the all-stars of the group due to their ability to evade damage.
So far the only one I got stuck on was Master Tamer Flummox. Turns out that cheesing it is an easy way to go, [ability]Apocalypse[/ability] works! So my team was 1 roach to cast Apocalypse, and 2 rabbits that were faster than Flummox that spent 14 rounds dodging and burrowing to buy time. The meteor hit, the roach lived, Flummox died.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
Warning for anyone doing Master Tamer Flummox, it appears bugged. I'm not getting credit for Roboteer (all mechs).
Not sure if its all types, or just a one time fluke.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
Quick help, please. Where is Flummox?
I looked at my WQs before bed last night. Not on the map.
Still not on the map now.
I'm standing in Suramar 25 62 looking down on a part of Felsoul Hold that looks like it could be where the videos are set, and no Flummox.
I don't want to miss him; you never know when he might be back.
Oh, Wowhead says "NA Realms: Available 6 hrs, 43 min". Was he on EU yesterday? Why was he not on my map? ARARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Ash, Rotten Little Helper is a kind of specialised moveset. When you need it, it's the perfect tool for the job, but you probably won't use it a lot. While it's worth picking up if you see a good price, it wouldn't be one of the pets I';d especially recommend as a starter. The WarcraftPets page will always tell you the base quality of a pet http://www.warcraftpets.com/wow-pets/humanoid/gnomes/rotten-little-helper/ so in this case, yes, it shows green.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
All of the Suramar Pet Battle World Quests are gated behind [url=http://www.wowhead.com/guides/suramar#side-blood-and-wine]Nightfallen storyline progression[/url]. I believe each one requires a certain quest/chain completed before the quest can pop up on your map.Gráinne wrote:Quick help, please. Where is Flummox?
I'm not sure which quest chain Flummox is tied to, but I've completed everything up to and including Blood and Wine (questline just before the 8k Revered questline unlocks) and am able to see him in Felsoul Hold.

Thanks, Quintessence.
I didn't realise pet battles required Nightfallen rep as well.

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
Well damn you're right, I didn't get credit either with critters. I also did two other trainers yesterday and didn't get credit for those either. Only got credited for Nightwatcher Merayl.Sepsis wrote:Warning for anyone doing Master Tamer Flummox, it appears bugged. I'm not getting credit for Roboteer (all mechs).

Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
I have noticed I don't always get credit for defeating a tamer with a single pet family sometimes as well, spoke to another collector on my realm last night and he also hadn't got credit for his last 2 tamer fights.
Re: WQ pet battles with only one type of pets
Well I figured out part of my problem, I didn't realize WQ doesn't necessarily equal "pet tamer." It's just hard tracking all these achieves at once when you have 20 other quests going at the same time. So I'll need to track this more carefully and put in bug tickets as needed for the ones that I'm not getting credit on, i.e. Flummox. At least I have a strategy set for him once he's fixed.

I use the addon [url=https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/family-familiar-helper]Family Familiar Helper[/url] (created by none other than [profile]Gello[/profile], creator of Rematch!).
It's incredibly helpful tracking which Pet Battle World Quests count towards the achievement, and it helps log progress.

Thanks for the link, I'm gonna have to check it out. Having to constantly open the achievement panel and check if 1) I've done it and 2) If it counts towards X achieve is getting tiresome already!
