Warcraftpets has ratings for individual battle pets' battling ability, but is there anywhere (here or elsewhere) where comps are rated? I'm noob battler, finally collected enough pets to start thinking about comps.

While the WarcraftsPets Top 20 is a useful start, like any crowdsourced "Top 20" list, it has its weaknesses.

Now, when you say "comps", are you talking about PvE or PvP?

For PvE, the comp is usually determined by the pets of the tamer you're facing rather than any general rules.

He posts data for how different pets rate against him (a skilled,experienced pet pvp player)

Many 'old' semi forgotten pvp pets still do well in this meta such as a vengeful porcupette
Discodoggy's videos are a fine source for strategies and team building
