Probability distribution of "hits 1-3 times"

Post by Discodoggy » August 14th, 2020, 10:54 pm

I recently figured out some probabilities of taking out Anomalus quickly with certain pets.

A few people have suggested that I take a look at Kor'thik swarmling, which is also good against Anomalus.

I was going to compare the probabilities of using Slicing Wind vs. Club, but I realized that I don't know the chances of hitting once, twice or three times with Slicing Wind, or any of the other "hits 1-3 times" attacks. Before I go out and test this myself, I was curious if anyone had already tested these types of moves.

I always assumed there's a 1 in 3 for each outcome.

The problem with these abilities is a couple of low rolls will lose a close game.

You could give kelpfin a go Vs anomalous too if you run stun, plus it's a fun pet.

Back in the old days, one of my addons said it was 100%, 66%, and 33%, but I don't know how legit those are. I never took data on it. I feel like someone on the old wow forums did a bunch of data collection and prob/stats on it and posted there...maybe the waybackmachine has it?
