Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
I'm going on a week now looking for "HIM" I even have an Undead Battle-Stone so I probably wouldnt have to engage more than one.
The only thing I know other than he has been Incredibly elusive, is that there are always two or three other people camping him at any given time of the day.
When does this thing Spawn? I feel like Charlie Brown waiting for the great pumpkin.
And for those who have one, was it worth the wait?
Thanks

I don't think there's fixed spawning times now, well at least not for this pet.
Used to be easier to get one on server resets, but this has been hotfixed in 5.1.
And yeah, he's pretty good of a pet, especially considering he's the only Undead with a Humanoid attack, making him particularly good against Dragonkins with Dragonkin attacks (most dragonkins).
I believe this thread should have been posted in Pet Collecting though
Plenty of threads about hunting this guy down in there anyway, you might want to check it out, maybe they have useful tips for you!
Good luck

Re: Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
I was lucky enough to fly over Sindragosa's Fall when I was heading to Argent Tourney grounds to do the pet daily and noticed that there was 1 spawned bellow me. I quickly flew down; tamed the little bugger and went on my merry way. Sadly it was a poor quality (grey) and was breed 6/16 (not really sure what is ideal breedid is but doubt its 6/16). But none the less I caught the little devil!
The time that I flew by was about Midnight give or take a few, and the spawn point was near the top right corner of Sindragosa's Fall. A word of advice; I have heard many people saying that they have really good luck with finding these guys right after server restarts. Might be a good idea to find out when that is and leave an alt there to check up on as soon as server restart happens.
Best of luck!!!
Also,
if anyone has some advice on how/when/where the Emerald Proto whlep (the green dragon in Shcolzar Basin) it would be much appreciated!!!
Sorry for potentially derailing op! xD

Yeah, I see now, that there is information on Pet Collecting board - Thanks
I should have elaborated more on the "Is it worth it" part.
If you are going to spend weeks looking for it, what makes it worth the wait Battle Wise
thanks for answering that

Re: Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
There's only 2 breed for this pet.. 6/16 (H/H) or 8/18 (P/S)..
Given Tail Sweep deals additionnal damage when going last, I'd go with 6/16 for minimum speed.
But even with 8/18, he's only at 257 speed at 25, so still pretty slow, maybe some people will prefer the extra power 8/18 provides.
As for the Emerald Proto-Whelp, personnally I sat there about 45 minutes until one spawned and I grabbed him fast. There were like 5 other people camping him as well at the time, but most of them had one out as their vanity pet, so Im thinking they were farming for a rare or a specific breed. I'd say just stay there and stay alert, one will spawn at some point.
Im pretty sure server reset will not help OP with his Scourged Whelpling though.
As for if it's worth it, well it's really up to you. There are other good pets against dragonlings, Anubisath Idol comes to mind, and should be easier to get. But the Scourged Whelpling is a very good addition to any pet collector's team, so Id say that he's worth the trouble.

Re: Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
Actually this one still does come out at server reset time. If you miss Tuesday morning just go on Wednesday around the same time, and there may be fewer people. I got mine on Wednesday this week and quite a few popped at the same time, plenty for the ten+ people waiting. Give it a little time, I thought our server came back up about 7:15 my time but none were up until 7:35. I don't know if it was 'worth it' since that was the first time I looked and I haven't used it yet! Minfernal, on the other hand, beginning to think is not worth it. :/
Emerald whelp spawned for me every ten minutes or so. I was killing dragons and whelps, don't know if that helped. There's a macro posted on wowhead under the hard to get pets that has helped me a ton. It targets the pet and marks it.

Finally got him saturday morning at 9 15 am. There wasnt a server restart. For what its worth, they must have spawned between 8 am and 915 am - thanks all

Re: Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
I think he is definitely worth it. I use him in battles all the time. I found him many times though, back when I first got pets to 20-22ish. Not many ppl with pets that high at the time. I found several up many times, and was usually the only one there. I never could get a rare, in the 20-30? battles or so I did. After reading here, I quit farming to let others get theirs, and just used a stone on him. So mine was "easy" for me to get. But even if I'd had a more difficult time, I think he'd be worth it for how much I like him in battles
Re: Scourged Whelpling "Camp"ground Tips
Been logging in for a couple weeks with nothing. Decided to try something new. Slaughtered the huge mass of penguin critters west of the tournment grounds. Scourged Whelpling spawned soon after. Not sure it if its related, but I'll take it.
