I was trying to find a listing of the top 5 pets of each family, considering the changes that 5.2 will make, but I couldn't find anything.

Anyone have any ideas of good pets of each family, ones worth rare-camping?

Emporer Crab Dread Wastes - Power Breed, is one of the better wild Aquatics

I'd also get a spirit crab in ghostlands for undead

I think we need to stay tuned to see how PVP unfolds with the new changes today

I have tried and tried to find a rare Emperor Crab, but I see very few of this pet, even in non-rare qualities, and have seen no rares at all. Is there somewhere other than Briny Muck to camp them?

I got mine as a 2nd. You can get them as a 2nd all over dread wastes. Good Luck.

I think that you will never find a consensus for this particular topic.

About all you will get is each person giving their favourite for each family, plus why it is their favourite.

Often this will include "it works really well with X" with X being another two pets, or a particular trainer, or something like that. As well, with the changes in 5.2, people may change their definition of "Top Pets".

For me, so far (I only have 430 pets and have definitely not really used even one tenth of them at level 25),

Dancing Water Skimmer, Emperor Crab
Beast:
Baby Blizzard Bear, Feline Familiar
Critter:
Alpine Hare, Rapana Whelk
Dragonkin:
Chrominius, Nexus Whelpling
Elemental:
Terrible Turnip, Fel Flame
Flying:
Effervescent Glowfly, Gilnean Raven
Humanoid:
Anubisath Idol, Flayer Youngling
Magic:
Nordrassil Wisp, Viscidus Globule
Mechanical:
[pet]Lil' XT[/pet], Darkmoon Zeppelin
Undead:
Spirit Crab, Restless Shadeling

Again, these are just MY top pets per family so far. In some cases (such as Magic or Undead) I have only levelled a couple of pets to 25 so really didn't have a lot to work with.
