Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Interesting, but it begs the question: will PvP wins prior to 5.3 count for the achievement?

I don't know, but considering that Brawler's Pet Supplies are being added in 5.3, it might be better to wait.Poofah wrote:Interesting, but it begs the question: will PvP wins prior to 5.3 count for the achievement?

The new Stunted Direhorn model is so adorable, I'm not sure what to do about it:

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Most likely not since they wouldn't have any way to verify that the old wins followed the new requirements.Poofah wrote:Interesting, but it begs the question: will PvP wins prior to 5.3 count for the achievement?
Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Personally I think there needs to be more incentive to do PvP battles below 25.

This is what I'm afraid of--if current PvP wins don't count, then surely PvP is dead until 5.3.Gilneas wrote:Most likely not since they wouldn't have any way to verify that the old wins followed the new requirements.
Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Few days ago I hit 1000 PvP wins, so this will be most enjoyable for me. One part of me wants the achievements to be rewarded retroactively to get the pet immediately, but the other part wants to have fun and work towards a goal. Either way is fine:)

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Traditionally, if the game keeps track of things like kills or number of items owned, your achievements will be awarded retroactively.

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
If you hate PvP then do this as soon as the patch hits! To cash in on the new amd fight mostly inexperienced people, since it requires winning the battles.
Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
You could say the same thing about PVP at any levelPersonally I think there needs to be more incentive to do PvP battles below 25.
Blizzard listened to the complaints that there was little incentive to pvp, and finally is rolling out New Achieves, a Pet, and possibly better pet loot.
I think the next thing to look out for is as the PTR gets closer, if additional pets or abilities are getting nerfed

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
This does not surprise me in the least... though I have not done any random PVP, I guess if I want the pet I'll have to start.Quintessence wrote:Mumper confirmed on Twitter that the new PVP achievements in 5.3 will not be retroactive.
I have never really cared much for doing achievements so had no plans (and still don't) to try for the 5000 wins achievement.

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
It's definitely a positive step -- pet PvP absolutely needed rewards/incentives. I think the particular implementation isn't great, because *winning* 250 matches is a bit daunting for people who don't necessarily like PvP. But at least it shows they're thinking about pet PvP and how to support it.Stabya wrote:Blizzard listened to the complaints that there was little incentive to pvp, and finally is rolling out New Achieves, a Pet, and possibly better pet loot.
This is expected, but still disappointing. A similar thing happened with the pet supply bags in 5.1: in 5.0 they didn't have battlestones, and then in 5.1 they did. It made me feel like a lot of my 5.0 pve pet battle effort was wasted, since I just had to farm them all over again for the new reward. In that case we didn't know that a new reward would be added so soon, but in this case we do, so there's no way I'm doing pet PvP until 5.3.Quintessence wrote:Mumper confirmed on Twitter that the new PVP achievements in 5.3 will not be retroactive.

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
I haven't tried PVP until last night ... went 3-0! Though two don't count because they white flagged, who knew 3 Mr. Biggles was so scary. I just chose them for giggles. Today's matches haven't been as kind, 3 loss, 1 win, and 1 tie (both pets died at the end) I'm seeing a theme in people's favorite pets, unless same guy just changes toons. I just keep grabbing different pets each time, 3 moths seem to be strong against the flavor of the day, 3 Mr. Biggles and Bunnies not so much! I wish I could see their expression when I start with 3 smiley sunflowers! ~ K

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
For some reason, I get the feeling that part of the way Blizz is making pvp anonymous was by using generalized characters for the person you're going up against. Unless some really random names are popular enough to be used by at least three different people.Koori wrote:I'm seeing a theme in people's favorite pets, unless same guy just changes toons.
Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Going to have to start thinking about some cheesy team set-ups, I guess. I prefer to just grab a random team, or what I think is a good balance of family and attack types, but I tend to get stomped by some lame set-up that can't be beaten by a normal team.

Re: Patch 5.3: Get ready to PVP
Yeah figured that out, I was getting the same team over and over, but the character I was fighting was different (gnome, human, orc) Which means I may be an ugly orc instead of sexy thong wearing NE?! But appreciate their attempt to keep it anonymous, now if someone else names all their pets Bob. This afternoon it's been the same team every time, no matter how long I wait ... I keep bringing in different pets though for giggles. Have about 25% success rate.'Ruzgofdi wrote:For some reason, I get the feeling that part of the way Blizz is making pvp anonymous was by using generalized characters for the person you're going up against. EDIT: I want a random pet option, I have hundreds of 25s ... just randomly give me 3 and see what I can do with them! These people using the same pets all the time are boring What's the fun in collecting all of these if you just use the same ones all day!
