Has anyone else tried getting rare's of these little guys? I've been at it for a day and a half, with no rare. Now I'm having an issue with them pretty much killing themselves before I can even get a trap to land. It's seriously frustrating. Scorched earth is making me angry. I've had 7 in a row die on me, because of this spell. Is there anything that counters it, that won't kill it? :/

Rares are out there, just keep at it.
My first Rare died to Scorched Earth. Its a weather effect, and usually it casts it early on, so I try to counter it right away with another weather effect. I usually use Starfall with my Celestial Dragon. It doesn't hit very hard, so unless they are exceptionally low it shouldn't kill it.

After a week or so of searching, I finally found a rare quality Wild Crimson Hatchling today. So just keep looking, you'll find one eventually!
As for the scorched earth spell, I don't think there's anything to counter it other than a weather ability that your pet can cast to override it. For example, an aquatic pet's cleansing rain.

Would you believe I got a Rare Crimson on my first catch? lol...
Gold actually took me less than five.
Can't find a rare Jade to save my life though, if that makes you feel any better, lol.
I've actually had problems with the hatchlings not respawning at times. I'll take out every one in a battle, but then no more will pop for quite some time. Usually when I come back the next day they'll be there, but they can be gone for literally hours.
Wheras other times they repop just fine.
Dunno what causes the drought in spawning.
