No parting of the mists...

Some people out there talk about Mists of Panderia as if it's just around the corner. But there's still no release date, so who knows how much longer it will be.
It seems people became tired of Cataclysm sooner than Blizzard originally expected. So they did a tie in deal to have a ton of people into the Pandaria beta, basically using the beta as a product, to keep people interested and talking about Warcraft. It created some buzz, and it's not like they had a lot of choices. I'm not in the beta myself, maybe someone can give me a better idea how it's going over. It seems like a lot of people who got the beta aren't playing much, maybe when more of it is done? A lot of people are playing other games, which may or may not be owned by Blizzard.
How will it work in the long run? Will all the extra people in beta be more apt to buy MoP? Or could some get sick of seeing pandas before MoP even hits the market?
Do you think a lot of brand new players, WoW virgins, will be interested in the game and it's fuzzy pandas? It's such a hard sell having to buy all the earlier expansions, I hope they do some kind of package deal.
