Curse you unlucky crit!!

Post by Colar » January 27th, 2015, 5:48 am

Finally found a rare P/P pet and he was down to about 400 hp left but just too high to trap. I used the weakest attack that should have been under 300 damage. Whap, over 500 damage.

I keep finding P/B or B/B so P/P was rare in any quality.

Use the Molten Corgi (Superbark) or Terrible Turnip (Weakening Blow).

Neither of those attacks can reduce the pet below 1. Perfect for trapping.

Good luck!

One NEVER go trapping without a Turnip (or a burning dog, apparantly).....

YUp. Same happened to me. I got right to leveling the Corgi after that.

Now I have Rematch teams set with special keybinds.
Hit F2 - Capture Team
Hit F3 - Aquatic Leveling Team
Hit F4 - Icespine Leveling Team
Hit F5 - Universal Kill Stuff Team

My most common trapping team is:
Terrible Turnip (Weakening Blow, Inspiring Song, Sunlight)
Molten Corgi (Bark, Super Bark, Inferno Herding)
Chrominius (Arcane Explosion, Ancient Blessing, Surge of Power)

Gives me a lot of flexibility with trapping pets. Turnip and Corgi are used primarily, but if up against something they take strong damage from, I swap to Chrominius to Arcane Explosion the pets down (low damage) and heal as needed. I'm sure there are some pets out there that are still tough even with this team, but it has served me well this expansion.

I prefer the Ruby Droplet when I feel like a 100% capture. It has heals, avoidance and it barely does damage.

*whispers* I do this all the time. And everyone yells TURNIP at me. And I keep right on doing it. :(

What drove me crazy was deepholm. The various elementals there could have stone rush and/or Crystal Overload. Both deal damage to themselves so they could kill themselves while you were trying to capture them even if you are using a turnip.

Yeah, for those I used a pet with sleep. Wasn't 100%, but helped.

That's why turkeys earned a spot on my capture team over the Turnip. The Food Coma ability (or anything similar) was exactly what I needed when I was trying to catch a darn P/P Crimson Geode, because they kept suiciding before I could catch them.

Yeah should have used turnips. I didn't because the pets were level 22-24 and normally shouldn't die quickly. After the second fail, I switched pets and kept grinding. It took me about 40 minutes and got one carry pet to 25 before I found another P/P and whap, back to back crit. Left that pet with just 2 hp remaining for easy capture

Going to have to burn a rare upgrade stone considering how long it took me to get a p/p
