Question?

Ran into an opponent 4 times today. He had a Ghastly Kid, Qiradji Guardling, and Chi-Chi. All four times, the fights came down to his low health Chi-Chi (below 200) facing my nearly full health Nexus Whelpling. Both pets have speed of 273. No other buffs or debuffs are active (flying racial wasn't active either), and yet... every time, Chi-Chi showed a speed of 16,573, and every time, he went first and cast Ethereal to avoid my first attack, followed by Tranquility. Is this a bug? Still won every fight, but was just wondering.

Not a bug. It is am always goes first ability. Say so in the description.

Ethereal is an "always go first" attack, so the in game effect is probably setting his speed value to that. Other goes first abilities work similarly (maybe they all add 16,300 to the pet speed)? It may also be due to how when your speeds are the same who goes first is initially random and then alternates (or does it reroll every turn?) combined with the always first mechanic - I haven't done enough PvP to notice though.

That explains it. Haven't run Chi-Chi in ages, and never used Ethereal when I did, so didn't realize it was an always first move. Thanks guys
