I'm so confused about this
HI all fellow pet hunters!
I have a question puzzled me for so long: why in some pet battle the carry pet can gain exp just by switch in and out, and others the carry has to act once? is there a pattern for this?
THank you!

The pet always has to be in for one round (unless it's the Plushie ). If you swap it out right away, it's still in the fight for one round. Basically it has to be in long enough for the other team to take one action.

If your levelling pets STARTS the battle, you need to make it do one action.
If levelling pet is swapped in, during the battle, you just need to swap it in and out..
Simple as that..

The actual rule for carry pet experience is that it has to be active on the front row at the end of at least one round. There are various conditions that can provided that:
1. If carry pet used on the first turn, either pass or use an ability
2. If current pet died, select carry pet (this is the end of the round). You can switch out immediately (which happens at the beginning of the next round).
3. Manually swapping in a pet even though current pet isn't dead (can swap out next round)
4. Force swap abilities (enemy or your own) that bring the carry pet to the front line. Next round you can swap right back out.
5. Your first pet is dead and your second pet dies on the same round that the entire enemy teams dies. This forces your carry pet to the front for the very last round and gives it exp (this is how the explode strats for Mo'ruk and Thundering Spirit work).
There may be others, but that covers most of the ways.

Thanks for all your answers. I had wondered the same thing!
Glad you asked the question, Jerebear.

Re: I'm so confused about this
Most common cause of a carry pet not getting any credit is when it's the starter and you swap it out immediately in the first round. In this situation it hasn't exposed itself to any chance of damage so it's not considered to have really been in the battle at all.
Re: I'm so confused about this
Actually, it doesn't have to be exposed to any chance at damage for EXP. That is indeed one way to get EXP, but not a requirement at all (you are correct that if it is the first pet it can't swap out immediately, but that is for a different reason that exposure to damage). If it were, the explode strats and immediate swap strats (first pet dies, select carry, immediately swap to other 25) wouldn't work at all. See my post above.Ranok wrote:Most common cause of a carry pet not getting any credit is when it's the starter and you swap it out immediately in the first round. Re: I'm so confused about this
Thanks for clarification Jerebear, I was right about the first pet thing, wrong about why. Reason I never, never call anybody a noob, can play this game for 10 years and still learn new stuff every day.
