Thoughts on the PvP prestige pets in the new build?

I was ok with grinding out the prestige necessary on my main to get any PvP pets, BUT (1) I am not pleased at the thought of grinding this out on two separate characters if this is going to be required to get both pets, and (2) I know these are pvp pets and all, but wow are they ugly. I guess I was hoping for something a little more heroic looking and less treasure goblin meets argent squire.

Re: PvP prestige pets
I'm not looking forward to PVP'ing for pets. But that being said, I'll wait for more details and information on just how much I'll need to PVP. Perhaps the grind won't be too terrible (at least I can hope).
Hopefully the pets are treated in the same way the Moonkin Hatchling works - collect one, you essentially get both. One usable on Alliance, one usable while on Horde.
That's just my wishful thinking though. Blizzard probably wants to encourage the new PVP system, so we'll likely have to prestige on both factions. *sigh*
I don't mind that the PVP pets aren't the 'prettiest' or 'cutest' looking pets. It could be seen as commentary on the PVP scene -- how grotesque and savage it can be...I guess?

Hmm, Ban Hammer and [ability]Punch[/ability] shouldn't be put together in any configuration -- they both are the flat Humanoid damage spells, with the BH being a point stronger.
Unless the BH is actually an RNG ability what would be kinda intriguing.

Nah, looks to me that you're choosing between 20 guaranteed damage, or a variable (16.8-25.2) threshold. Needless to say, Ban Hammer will be the superior option despite the risk of dealing slightly less damage, since the average is still higher, and the maximum value is much higher.Paladance wrote:Hmm, Ban Hammer and [ability]Punch[/ability] shouldn't be put together in any configuration -- they both are the flat Humanoid damage spells, with the BH being a point stronger.

We have a similar case with the [pet]Leviathan Hatchling[/pet], [ability]Left Shark[/ability], and [ability]Land Shark[/ability] - that have [ability]Water Jet[/ability] competing against [ability]Tail Slap[/ability] - which is also stronger, at 22 (±6.6). While they aren't pets I use much, I don't see any reason to run [ability]Water Jet[/ability] at all.
In my opinion, the game would be better off if the average damage for these abilities was the same. That way the choice would make more sense - guaranteed value, or a risk/reward move. Right now, choosing the gamble is always best

Well, just wanted to say that "Ban Hammer going at random" is prone to making puns about the original feature… thanks for the exact numbers!
By the way:
When you overkill with a flat damage move, you know that it has to be that way.
When you overkill with an RNG move, you can believe that another time you won't need that additional round.
Even a weaker base would give you a hope.
