(sorry if this shouldn't be posted in PTR/Beta)
So I was on live, post 7.0, standing with a friend and we both had the same pet summoned and they're different sizes! His is bigger to him, mine is bigger to me. I'm guessing this is to show off some of the new detail in the new pets and/or new models (I'm looking at you, bunnies) of our own pets without being obtrusive to those around us? Anyway...check it out!

Re: 7.0 pet size change?
I haven't tried it yet so a couple questions:
Is it related to your character's race height?
Is it related to your character's race height?
- The bigger you are, the bigger your pet? - Draenei would have bigger summoned battle pets compared to gnomes.
- Or the bigger you are, the smaller your pet? - Tauren would have smaller summoned battle pets compared to goblins.
- (Vrykul Drinking Horn, Whole-Body Shrinka', Elixir of Giant Growth, etc.)

Re: 7.0 pet size change?
It was Minfernals on belf female vs belf male, no size buffs on either character. He sent me a screenshot and his pet was bigger in his screenshot, mine was bigger in my screenshot. (If I were better at getting screenshots to the right size for wcp, I'd post it. I'll try tomorrow!)
Re: 7.0 pet size change?
I've read that there are size changes to combat pets to players other than the pets' owner, possibly to reduce screen clutter. Makes sense that if these changes are happening to combat pets, it would occur to non-combat pets as well.
Re: 7.0 pet size change?
Now I'm wondering if this applies to the few pets that actually do come in different sizes. Do the slightly bigger ones still show up as slightly bigger than the slightly smaller ones, even if they are 'expanded view' for your character?
- I checked in game, and to me (at least) the Leopard Tree Frog still has two slightly different sizes. I don't know if that is still visible to others though.

Re: 7.0 pet size change?
I'll see if I can remember to check on this later. I double checked to make sure my [pet]Frostfur Rat[/pet]s stayed 2 different sizes despite the new model. but didn't think to ask anyone if they could see a size difference too.Valianya wrote:Now I'm wondering if this applies to the few pets that actually do come in different sizes. Re: 7.0 pet size change?
Hi,
I have not thought that the pet size was an issue, but sometimes, they are so small ... where did it go? So, at least clearing that up would be a bit nice, but it does not have to be done with "size" and could be done with an "aura" or something around them at the start, for example. Something unique to that one pet.
I like the idea of all my pets running amuck, throughout the Garrison ... I think it's really cool.

Re: 7.0 pet size change?
Here's my follow-up, using Parched Lizard and Golden Civet Kitten (as my comparison didn't have the Frostfur Rat, go figure). I have both sizes of Golden Civet Kitten (GCK) and Parched Lizard, my comparison had only the small GCK and small Parched Lizard. We were both on female human toons, to remove the possibility of race or toon size affecting the results.Peanutty wrote:I'll see if I can remember to check on this later. Results:
My big GCK was bigger on my screen. It was slightly bigger on his screen.
My small GCK was slightly bigger on my screen. It was slightly smaller on his screen.
My big Parched Lizard was easily bigger on my screen. It was also bigger on his screen.
My small Parched Lizard looked nearly the same size as his on my screen (at most it was a couple pixels taller, if that). It looked the same on his screen as well.

Here's my listing:Peanutty wrote: ...

...
Unborn Val'kyr -- Needs to be a bit bigger/older so I don't look/sound like a dirty old man!
Pandaren Water Spirit -- Needs to be a bit smaller, and when it dies needs to water the whole place down!
Chrominius -- His size is fine, but his laziness that kills him is not. He might as well say something like ... "sorry, I'm drunk! ... " and promptly fall asleep!
Squirrells -- They are upset with me in my backyard, because I do not feed them enough nuts!
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling -- Is upset with me, because I have no food to give him so that he does not look so puny!
Nexus Whelpling -- Has been angry at all the neighbors because I like using the Nether Dragon Whelpling and the Mechanical Pandaren Whelpling, so much! He fizzled on me last night on purpose!
All the Rats in the game -- There isn't enough make-up in the Ben Nye kits to make them more attractive! Maybe Blizzard should try Cats, instead!
Re: 7.0 pet size change?
What the OP was asking about was whether or not pets belonging to other players now appear smaller in comparison to your own, so I think that's now proven to be a "yes."
I think the size of most pets overall is fine as is - there are a couple that do seem too small (i.e. the last RWL group are too puny overall IMO. If you want to tweak them temporarily there's always the magical pet biscuits.

As someone who's had pet mice and rats, I disagree. While I'm still not a fan of the new rabbit model, I think they did a pretty good job with the rats. They still don't look anything like actual rats but they also don't creep me out like the rabbits do.Uduwudu wrote:All the Rats in the game -- There isn't enough make-up in the Ben Nye kits to make them more attractive! Re: 7.0 pet size change?
thats a shame, because i think the rats look great, and cant wait for the Ratstallion mount as well.Uduwudu wrote:Peanutty wrote: All the Rats in the game -- There isn't enough make-up in the Ben Nye kits to make them more attractive! Maybe Blizzard should try Cats, instead!
i have noticed a change with the pet sizes, but didn't think much of it. tho it is nice to know that i can now see my pets better without getting aggro from party members (who are not always keen on my having "all these different pets flying around")
will still need to test out different races and the biscuits tho, just to see how that affects them.

Hasn't pets always come in different sizes? I remember Gryphon Hatchling in Twilight Highlands would come in different sizes, the wild one that is. Thats back from Cataclysm. Dunno if its related to topic?

Re: 7.0 pet size change?
I believe this is a separate thing. Yes, a handful of pets already come in different sizes, but this "size change" has more to do with all pets appearing as larger for the summoner.Lolfixheal wrote:Hasn't pets always come in different sizes? I haven't tested it yet, but it sounds like Blizzard changed it so that summoned battle pets appear bigger for only the owner, while onlookers see the pet's normal size.
