According to WOW they are getting rid of the authenticator.
So what is going to happened to the Core Hound Pup attached to it?

As far as I know the Authenticator is and will still be a thing for WoW. What they're removing is the Authenticator App itself, and the ability to authenticate logins will be integrated into the Bnet Mobile App instead. I think the Core Hound Pup was migrated and is still attached to the new version of the Authenticator (Bnet App).

This is correct. the App is being rolled into the Battle.net app. If you use that app as your authenticator, you keep the pet.
