I've put together a guide to catching Tiny Carp, based on what has been discovered so far. I'd post a link, but forum won't let me.

Tiny Carp are bound when caught, and when learnt unique and non-tradeable, so the only way to gain them is to catch them. I reckon they are are rarest minipet caught by fishing. When first added to the test realm they were fairly easy to catch. But I've ploughed through 14,000 catches since then, and not caught one.

Given their rarity, it isn't possible to confirm all possible catch locations. Indeed, there are some oddities, that raise the possibility of certain pool types containing more than one type of Tiny Carp, which could change the strategy for catching them. That should become clearer once more people report catches when the patch goes live.

There's a quirk with the Tiny Blue Carp, whose stats are always as good as, or better, than the other Tiny Carp. At level 1, the Tiny Blue Carp's health is 155 (compared to 151 or 152 for other Tiny Carp) and their attack is 12 (compared to 11), but their speed is still 12 (the same as the other Tiny Carp). Abilities vary a bit, but are broadly similar. Since all are rare quality, I'd expected the stats to be balanced equally. Can anyone explain this?

Some variations in stats don't become apparent for a few levels.
It's probably an H/P fish, and the others may be B/B or S/B fish.
Or it may be a bug. :?

But in all likelihood, the stats will balance themselves as the pets are leveled.

We'll know more once we can get the breed info from the game.

Thanks for the write-up, El. It motivated me to finally go looking for the Fishing Charm, and I was lucky enough to find the Ghostly Fisherman waiting there for me!

I've been camping him for a while, finally found him at 4:30am this morning.
Not even the lack of stones from the pet dailies today can detract from finally having the Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm.

Just in time for 5.2, too!

Grats! I've been fortunate to have mine for awhile now, one nice benefit of it is that I've gotten a few of the Nat Pagle quest fish as bonus fish from schools when they're supposed to be open water only.

I'll go after them all. But I have so many raptors now none feel special and fish just don't excite me. I really like the new Panda pets though.

I'd say..

Red one for the panda quad,
Brownish headed one for the raptors,
Green for the fish

Im oddly excited about the carp the most, i always saw that fishman walk buy with his 20+ fish bubbles and wanted to have them all

I'm glad I stopped fishing once I finished the tillers grind, I'm actually kind of looking forward to getting the carp now.

If only we could do the same and have all our fish pets out at the same time. :P

I'd like to see all the aquatic pets with bubbles loose their bubbles while you're submerged under water. Maybe with some kind of happier animation as well, swimming about now that they have a bit of "freedom".

Thanks for the helpful post! Can anyone over 85 (or is it over 90?) go to Isle of Giants, or will there be some qualifying hurdle? Will it just be a new zone or is it a scenario or dungeon zone?

I haven't seen any flightpath to the Isle of Giants (but there's one from it to the main zones), so players need to travel there on their own. This means having the skill to fly in Pandaria is necessary, and since it's only available to level 90 players, you'll need to be level 90 to get their (on your own).

I haven't tried summoning a level 85 there, but I can't imagine a non-level capped player lasting very long. All the mobs are level 90+ elites with fairly large agro ranges!
