In my opinion, stones are best used on non-wild pets, as there simply is no other way to make them rare. However there are exceptions, those pesky sparsely spawned pets. For a flying stone, I would recommend using it on the Crow from darkmoon. If you were lucky enough to catch a rare of that, you'll want to look at your vendor pets, examine their abilities and pick one with the most unique move set. Hope this helps and happy collecting.

Gilnean Raven if not the crow
Great Battle pet who can call darkness then use a darkness buffed attack

Crow and Gilnean Raven are the ones I plan to use my first two on. After that, the P/P breed Yellow Moth is a solid choice as well.

P/P Yellow Moth, Gilnean Raven, or Jade Crane Chick are all solid choices.
Personally, for PvE (anti-tamer) I'd choose the Yellow Moth. But that's me.

My first went right to the raven (s/s) and it is one of my favorites.

My vote is for Yellow Moth, its the only breed 4 moth as far as I know. Moths in general shred aquatics to pieces.
