Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
From yesterday's notes: "Brilliant Kaliri, Jade Tentacle, Tirisfal Batling, Firefly, Jade Crane Chick, Gilnean Raven, and Shore Crawler are no longer available in multiple breeds."
If you were planning on making multiple Worgen alts to try and get that ideal breed, best hold off and not waste your time.

Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
What Breed is on PTR and are current leveled ones changed?
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
I expect thsi will affect all of these pets, currently learned an future, and I'm all for it. Getting one shot at a pet (i.e. Kaliri) and having the wrong breedid is horrible.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Now they just need to extend this to all store-bought and crafted pets. Hunting wild pets looking for the desired breed is fine, but "farming" a vendor hoping to get lucky or having to repeatedly craft something is silly.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Which other store-bought and crafted pets still come in multiple breeds? Please let me know if you know of any. Thanks.Polynices wrote:Now they just need to extend this to all store-bought and crafted pets. Personally, I'd rather the vendor pets like Gilnean Raven and the Jade Crane Chick have their price increased and allow you the ability to buy more than one.
Then, if you really want a specific breed you keep buying until you get what you want.
One shot Achievement based pets like Jade Tentacle, Brilliant Kaliri and Singing Cricket should only come in one breed.
I'm on the fence about profession based pets like Jade Owl, Sapphire Cub and the soon to be Pierre. One one hand I hate to waste and farm mats for numerous pets to get one breed but it's great for making a gold or two on the AH. Pierre however, that would suck to farm that number of mats for a specific breed.

I don't really care about the breed, but I used a Battle-stone on my raven and I hope the change doesn't reset its quality to uncommon.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Just logged into the PTR and thought I check out breeds.
Made a premade Worgen. I already had two 25 ravens in my spellbook, and learned a third at level 1. Stats on level 1 Uncommon are 151 H, 10 P, 10 S. Both Level 25 Uncommons are 1375/255/255. Looks like they're all breed 3, B/B.
Made a premade Panda for Jade Crane Chick. Two Level 25 Uncommon, 1375/270/240. Level 1 Uncommon, 151/11/10. Breed 3, B/B.
Made a premade goblin. Got different breeds on the Shore Crawlers. Level 25 Uncommon, 1375/300/225 suggests Breed 4, P/P. But the level 1 I trained was 154/10/10, which is breed 3, B/B. This will require more research.
Only one of the following, but here's the stats I found.
Brilliant Kaliri, level 1 Rare, 149/13/11, which looks like breed 8, P/S
Firefly, level 25 Rare, 1465/273/289, breed 12, H/B
Didn't have a Tirisfal Batling or Jade Tentacle to test.

Yeah... my Darkmoon Crow is S/S, so that lessens the sting somewhat.Tahsfenz wrote:I'm gonna miss my s/s raven.
Still, making the Gilnean Raven a B/B? That's insult to injury.
Jade Crane Chick didn't have fantastic breeds to begin with, so either/or is okay.
If they all end up being B/B, it's not too far off the H/B alternative anyway.
I do hope the Shore Crawlers are all P/P though. I really do.

Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
I agree with the removal. There should be consistency with all vendor, event and achievement pets. If, for no other reason than one person's gold and time is equal to another's. So why treat a purchase like a lottery?
In the same way that I don't agree with there being the 'possibility' of rares from the same process. If I complete a quest chain or achievement, my time and effort should be rewarded the same as every other person. There should be zero chance that one person may be lucky enough to score a rare. We have stones now to compensate for it.
I also question the openness of the 'sport'. Many people I speak with who do not engage in Pet Battles see it as too confusing. They are aware that there is more too it than just rarity but find information and consistency to be lacking. The time that it takes is also a factor. A new person or a person with little time should, with confidence, be able to purchase pets or complete quests for pets knowing that they can take those pets into battle and that they are not going to be dudded even on a 'like for like' pet match up. Currently, that is not the case. I can buy 1 White Moth, my mate can buy 1 and I can end up with a superior version. I kick his behind and suddenly he feels that the system is a) ripping him off b) skewed/biased and c) a waste of time.
While I am sure that other's will disagree for whatever reason, I don't want to see pet collecting become like raiding - some insular, elitist thing that takes new comers months of time and effort to break into. For me, it certainly isn't about that.

Heard of this happening, why I leveled up an S/S Crow I had laying around, but never bothered to push beyond 5 as it shared the main moves I used on the Gilnean Raven.

Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
My raven was still an S/S breed when I logged in after the patch.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
That's a surprise. What about the rest? Were they converted?
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Also no changes to my pets.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Mine is still P/B. I have P/S and S/S crows so I'm still pretty well covered regardless of what they do.
Re: Gilnean Raven Breed Variety Removed (PTR)
Oh, vendor pets aren't so bad. I thought you meant BLIZZARD Store-bought pets, which would be terribleUsaia wrote:Currently the vendor pets with different breeds are:Wain wrote:Which other store-bought and crafted pets still come in multiple breeds? Mumper mentioned on twitter that they're hoping to find a way to change current pets to the new static breed. I guess the tech just wasn't in place yet.
