New Sprite Darter Hatchling Model!

So I was randomly clicking through pets on the PTR earlier and I clicked on the SDH. I had to look closer to make sure I was seeing it right.

SDH has a new model to match the new mount! Even the ones in Feralas have grown up and changed models too! Sad to be losing such a classic model, but this one changes colors!

Does the Nether Faerie Dragon have a new model as well, or does it have the old model?

Same old ghostly nether model. Dont think they would change that one too since it isn't a faerie dragon.

The Nether Faerie Dragon and the Sprite Darter Hatchling currently share the same model.
The only difference is that the NFD is translucent.

If they updated the model for the SDH, I'm surprised they didn't update both.

Still hoping that the new Faerie Dragon Mount is a store mount and not a TCG mount - though I'm not holding out much hope.

Interesting news! Good thing I aquired a cheap sprite darter hatchling not long ago, well aware of their painful droprate.

So im going to level it up in preparation for 5.3. Been wanting a pet with life exchange.

I'm hoping this is a PTR bug...I am sort of attached the old model. It's been around so long. Make a new pet...don't alter an old one.

I find it hard to believe that they would NOT update the older frogs for this reason... but are apparently updating a more detailed pet like the Sprite Darter Hatchling?

Somehow I doubt blizzard would put this in... this looks exactly like the model for the mount and could still be a glitch on PTR; only time will tell.

Has to be unintentional. Current model is one of the old ones least in need of an upgrade, and many people like it.

I agree that it didn't need an update, but maybe Blizz is doing something with fae dragons soon? Perhaps Emerald Dream? One can hope.

I am the one that asked him that, and the sprite darter isn't using the mount's model. I believe that he misunderstood me, so I linked him a pic of the SDH for him to comment on, hopefully.

Except the mount has armor and a saddle, so it isn't fully identical.

So It could very well be a bug, but the new model uses the old model's name in the file, so who knows right now.

Gah, it looks horrible. I really hope they don't change the existing ones. The SDH, and particularly the NFD, are among my favourite looking pets!

New PTR build this after noon fixed the model. It is back to being small and with his feather antennae.
