So this was an interesting change after so many whelps, but the newest patch has both the CE mount and the pet as a Quilen (If you don't know a Quilen http://www.wowpedia.org/Quilen )
So what do people think?
For me the Cub is probably going to look better then the mount.

Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
Well, I guess I know which pet I'm naming Bronx.
Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
That color combo? Not doing anything for me.
Some of my best friends are imaginary…

There are different colors. Odds are fairly good it won't have the same colors as the image on the wiki page.
Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
When I heard the Collector's Edition was going to get a pet and a mount I was pretty excited, but the Quilen doesn't do anything for me. As a BM Hunter, despite their cool spell, I'm not interested in taming one either.
Maybe it will look better than I think...

Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
It looks like the Quilen are based off of Fu Lions. Here's the baby Fu Lion pet from Flyff to give a vague guess how it might look:

Do you mean there are quilen running around in beta that are different colors? If so, could someone post a screenshot? Are all the colors.. ah, hideous? XDDementron wrote:There are different colors. Odds are fairly good it won't have the same colors as the image on the wiki page.

Well, there seems to be another Quilen pet that you can get from Mogu Archeology... So if you don't like the look of the CE one, this one will prolly be another color.
Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
There's a forum topic on the Petopia forums that shows potentially tamable pet skins at http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=17335.
There are twelve in all: four flesh, four plain stone, four fancy stone. I imagine the lucky pet will be one of the flesh skins and the archy pet will be one of the stone skins.

Dementron, thanks for the link! I bet we are getting the quilen pictured (since it has a slightly more saturated color, I'm guessing they think of it as the "nice" one), but they may have a color scheme under wraps for the mount and pet. I'm also confused why they're calling a lion a quilen, the name seems more like they're going for a qilin, a hooved animal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qilin
I do love the cranes, my hunters hope they can get those. Is there a crane small pet?

As long as you don't mind that it's a minty green, the Jade Crane Chick is what you're looking for.Lysi wrote:Is there a crane small pet?

Too bad it's not white! I guess it will have to do, lol.Imthedci wrote:As long as you don't mind that it's a minty green, the Jade Crane Chick is what you're looking for.Lysi wrote:Is there a crane small pet?

Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
Yeah, I'm a bit bothered by this, since I was really hoping for an actual qilin, or kirin, or ki-lin... there are a lot of variant spellings. Kirin are usually described as Chinese unicorns, though they're scaly like dragons, and my favorite bit of lore about them is that they're supposedly so gentle they hop from stone to stone so they won't step on a blade of grass or an insect. Try doing a google image search for kirin... there are some really beautiful images of them (as well as some very ugly ones, of course).Lysi wrote: I'm also confused why they're calling a lion a quilen, the name seems more like they're going for a qilin, a hooved animal
I'm not surprised Blizzard is calling fu-dogs/lions quilin, considering we already have manticore "wyverns", I'm just disappointed considering we could have gotten an amazing many-colored dragon-unicorn, and instead we're getting some kind of ugly dog thing.
I guess it's probably a good thing we don't have kirin in the game, though, I'd be really sad to see people killing them. But still... they'd make such incredible mounts...
Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
Oh, yes, I love the folklore. I have one of the beautiful Windstone edition kirin. I don't know if they're particularly authentic to the traditional descriptions, but Peña's designs are so pretty.

Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
Greatly reminds me of Perky Pug after seeing it.
Re: CE Pet - Lucky Quilen Cub
I sort of take back what I previously said in this thread after seeing the pet. I'm still not convinced about having one as a Hunter pet, or the mount, but the companion pet is very cute!
Whether it's enough to get me to buy the CE Edition, I'm unsure. But I'm much more tempted now!
