Tournament Ideas

One of the great things I love about being a part of the Warcraftpets guild is the tournaments. No matter who hosts them and no matter how bad or good I do they are lots of fun.

I thought I would start a thread discussing ideas for future tournaments. As I have only been in the guild a couple of months I don't know what kind of tournaments have been run before. At my first tournament, the Harry Potter one, someone mentioned a Chinese Zodiac theme. That got some positive feedback and sounds like fun.

I'll toss in an idea of my own. I'm a huge Tolkien fan. As the Hobbit movies are being released it might be fun to try to run a tournament with pets correlating to the books. There could be spiders (Shelob, Murkwood spiders), Worgs, dragonkin (Smaug), ghostly pets (Nazgul), and eagle style pets as examples. Oh and can't forget the little elephants to represent the Mamukil .

I'd love to see what else we can come up with.

I definitely intent to do a Chinese Zodiac theme after we get the pets from 5.4. So glad they're adding an ox! We'd just have to think of something to replace the horse.... I'm thinking reindeer?

I also love the Tolkien idea! We'd have to allow magical books in too, and walking trees (Withers!)

I've been considering an Egyptian theme as well. Scarabs, Anubisath Idol, snakes, cats, Quiraji Guardling etc.

There is the summer theme, what about an aquatic theme or even one based on the 4 elements?

We can probably find enough for an earthy theme with plant life and sunlight and all the good stuff!

For Halloween we can do a.... well Halloween theme

I was thinking about a Family Guy themed tournament, but that would end up Humanoids versus Chickens, and be kind of boring.

"World Wilflife" or "Discovery Channel"
Using only pets which can be found in the "real world": Critters, beasts, birds, fish, maggots, geoids, etc.
(OK geoids don't move in the real world, but they do exist)

The key being the pets would need a "real world" counterpart.

I was actually thinking about this last night! Nothing magical or fantasy related. Just real stuff. Giraffes, bats, cats, fish.... It could be really fun!

I don't know if it would be enough pets for a tournament, but I thought of an old nursery rhyme about an old lady.
Maybe pets from nursery rhymes in general. Mary's lamb, 3 Blind mice, even Humpty Dumpty could be represented by Eggbert!
