5.4 Engineering Pets.
Just orientate yourself on the Lightning Steel Ingots for Blacksmithing. I'm pretty sure there will be no way to speed up production until at least the new expansion is out.
Which also means that a pet will go for around 20-30k.

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
I highly doubt that these will not be tradeable in some way. However, the wait time for them is probably reason enough to level Engineering on an alt. They won't be up for sale for at least a month and if you don't want to wait, it really might be the only way to do it. I'll have to level a second engineer so I can get the mount at the same time as the second pet.
Proudly volunteering to this website since 11/09!
Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Think I'll be crafting to sell at first, it's not so important to have these pets or mount that I need them straightaway, and I'm well off in gold, but not so rich that there's nothing left to buy!
Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Does anyone know if the 5.4 pets are linked to the Goblin/Gnomish specializations? I just finished to max engineering on one of my alts and I don't know which one to pick...

They're not, they're both learned from the Jard's Journal drop.Mizix wrote:Does anyone know if the 5.4 pets are linked to the Goblin/Gnomish specializations? I just finished to max engineering on one of my alts and I don't know which one to pick...

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
This makes me glad that I have both gnome and goblin engineers at level 90 with 600 skill.Dash wrote:I'm 99.99% confident the pets will at least be cageable / tradable. The only thing I'm kind of worried about is the goblin / gnome spec restriction. Fifteen days to craft one is still kind of huge though, not to mention you have to make sure to log in for your daily CD, and then there's the awesome Golem mount.
...and a third engineer up and coming at level 86 who is just starting on Cataclysm mats.

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
A little update : tailoring, blacksmithing and leartherworking have another recipe for the new 5.4 mats called "accelerated", with a mystery ingredient thrown in, that apparently bypasses the daily CD.
http://ptr.wowhead.com/search?q=acceler ... rofessions
Nothing about engi yet, but there's hope (and by that I mean hope it isn't some crazy expensive / rare item)

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Assume they won't do that for the engineering mat's since for engineering its purely cosmetic items, whereas the other prof's mats are going to be used for crafted gear.
Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
I wouldn't call battle pets "cosmetic". Anyway, this makes me happy I chose to be an engineer at the start of vanilla:D

So, does this mean that I have to have blacksmithing on my engineering toon?Casca wrote:Just orientate yourself on the Lightning Steel Ingots for Blacksmithing. I'm pretty sure there will be no way to speed up production until at least the new expansion is out.

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
No, what I meant was that the daily cooldown in Engineering will work pretty much like the Lightning Steel Ingots do in Blacksmithing now. One per day and crafting the highest level weapon requires 30 Ingots, so it takes a month to craft one weapon resulting in such a high price.
Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
No, the engineering material is brand new, crafted daily by engineers and only used for engineering, Casca just means it's a similar vector.Denverrunner wrote:So, does this mean that I have to have blacksmithing on my engineering toon?

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Finally got enough mats together to make the first one Pierre
Awesome his animation, takes out a skillet and a spatula, throws a pancake in the air, which does a few twists, catches it, bangs them together like calling folks to dinner, and continues cooking the pancake....

Awesome Dakender! I'm so glad they are coming out with some unique pet models for 5.4!Dakender wrote:Finally got enough mats together to make the first one Pierre
Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Nope, no need for that. What you may consider doing however is stock up on the required ghost iron bars ahead of time. At least that's what I'm doing, considering the number of new crafting recipes coming in, and knowing prices on my realm are pretty cheap compared to other realms (some of which my server will be virtual realm'd with) I've stocked up on a lot of ghost iron bars for the pet and other crafting. Prices will be insane for the first few days if past experience is anything to go by and I really don't want to be in the position to have to either compete with all the farmers or buy a stack of bars at 250+g just to make the daily combine.Denverrunner wrote:So, does this mean that I have to have blacksmithing on my engineering toon?
I'm not sure if they're putting in that accelerated bar creation, but if they do it might be similar to the way tailors can make extra imperial silk by using Spirits of Harmony with the cloth. So if you have extra Spirits of Harmony on your engineer I wouldn't be using them up just in case. It might not be implemented that way but I'm holding on to some extras on my engineer since hey, doesn't hurt and if they don't put that in I'll just turn 'em into scopes for all the people getting new bows in the new raid.

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Don't forget to stock up on the other part too, you will need:
Part 1 - 15ea Stabilized Lightning Source
Part 2 - 15ea Living Steel
to make 1 pet.
One way to make part 1
1 ea Stabilized Lightning Source = Ghost Iron Bar x10
Two ways to make part 2
First you will need the Trillium Bar and there are two ways to make it.
Smelt Trillium which takes 2ea Black Trillium Ore and 2ea White Trillium Ore
or
Transmute: Trillium Bar which takes 10ea Ghost Iron Bar
Then
Riddle of Steel = 1ea Living Steel which takes 3ea Trillium Bar and 3ea Spirit of Harmony
or
Transmute: Living Steel = 1ea Living Steel which takes 6ea Trillium Bar
Hope I got that right hehehe

Re: 5.4 Engineering Pets.
Just in case, don't forget you can plant ore seeds at your farm, each plant yields one black or white trillium ore, often along with ghost iron ore. You can also have 5 trillium ore for 1 spirit of harmony at the vendor in your cap city. (usefull especially if you're like me and you always seem to end up with something like 21 white and 3 black *sigh*)
