Yo
I'm abit unsure what opportunities I got in my situation to upgrade my Argent Gruntling + Horde Balloon.
I'm alliance on BDF, 11 character slots filled out with alliance toons. I got a poor (read: zero gold) 85 Horde DK on another server. All my stones+gold are on my BDF alliance chars.
So whats the easiest/fastest way for my DK to upgrade those 2 pets?

Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
I would say the easiest way to go about this is to do some dailies on your horde DK and get bags with that character. Eventually, you should get the stones you need where you need to have them in order to use them.
As a bonus: that would also provide that DK with gold and xp.

Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
I have two lvl 60 DKS that do the daily quest in Deadwind pass and Winterspring. You will get stones quickly enough.
Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
You need a flying stone and a humanoid stone. They should set you back about 1,000 gold apiece.
The fastest and surest way to get 2,000 gold would be to go out and gather ore, herbs and skins, and sell them on the AH. I estimate 3-4 hours of farming to get 2,000 gold.
If you were silly and didn't choose two gathering professions then I would just start on the MoP quests.
Yes, you can do the bag tamers, but how long do you want to wait? Get farming!

Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
Buy pets or cage your duplicates on your alliance server and sell them on your horde server. Double check the AH on your horde server and see what pets are rarer and sell for a little more than what you pay for them. Even if you sell them for the same price you pay, it transfers the gold.

His characters are not on the same server, otherwise this would be a simple solution.GilroyKilroy wrote:The type specific stones are bind on battlenet account. I have mailed them from my alliance toon to my horde toon.

Trivial enough to make a toon on the same server than can visit a mailbox, no?Rosalyne wrote:His characters are not on the same server, otherwise this would be a simple solution.GilroyKilroy wrote:The type specific stones are bind on battlenet account. For the Horde Ballon that would work (but in the OP he stated that he has all 11 slots filled with ally toons on that server so this won't work).

Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
I got 11 chars on my realm, all alliance, cant make a horde toon. I got the horde DK toon on another server as a previously project, not going to play it and it doesn't have any/much gold. These pets cant be caged, so am I right to assume the following?:
A: get family specific stone flying+humanoid somehow (DK is 85 can't venture around MoP)
or
B: two flawless off AH/trade by the means of trading pets or flipping pets
?

That is the only 2 options you have for those pets unfortunitly.Lolfixheal wrote:I got 11 chars on my realm, all alliance, cant make a horde toon. What I would do is set your hearth to Dal, do the Icecrown daily, go back to dal use the port to org and fly to Winterspring then do the daily, fly back to org then use the port to go to the Dark Portal and fly to Kara and do the daily then hearth back to Dal port back to org and then use the port to Uldum. (you may find a better route than this I just threw something together quick while at work)
That will get you 4 bags a day and eventually you will get either the 2 stones you need or 3 of one other type that you can trade in for the stones that you want. Good luck

Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
The Argent Gruntling and Squire can be summoned by any character of the correct faction. I have summoned mine on alts as low as level 1. It is only the Guild Page and Herald that are character specific.Dragonwizard wrote:For the Horde Ballon that would work (but in the OP he stated that he has all 11 slots filled with ally toons on that server so this won't work) but I don't believe the Argent Gruntling can be summoned on a toon that hasn't bought it.GilroyKilroy wrote: Trivial enough to make a toon on the same server than can visit a mailbox, no?
Other than doing dailies that provide bags and getting stones from them, the only options would cost money (either in game gold or real life money).
I can think of a couple of other options besides the ones mentioned above:
1) Get a second account (you can have up to 8 licenses tied to your battle.net account) and make a horde character on that on the realm where you have your stones (if you get in on one of the sales, this could cost as little as $5). Side note: if you do this, you can also periodically reactivate that account if you should ever need to do so again by using the scroll of resurrection or even with the 10-day Mists trial (I do this myself with my own extra accounts... the ones that have not been upgraded to Mists can use the 10-day free trial about once every 6 months or so). If you are willing to pay for 2 months subscription, you can also get the recruit a friend mount (if you don't already have it).
2) Transfer an alliance character between realms (most expensive option I think).

Don't forget option C: find someone on the trade forums with the stones you need, and offer them 2 other stones in return.Lolfixheal wrote:I got 11 chars on my realm, all alliance, cant make a horde toon. Unfortunately, that would only work if the pets could be caged and these particular pets can't.Venun wrote:Don't forget option C: find someone on the trade forums with the stones you need, and offer them 2 other stones in return.Lolfixheal wrote:I got 11 chars on my realm, all alliance, cant make a horde toon. Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
Ohter toons can summon the Gruntling but they can't use it's special abilities, like the mailbox or bank.Dragonwizard wrote: but I don't believe the Argent Gruntling can be summoned on a toon that hasn't bought it.
Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
There are several areas in MoP that an under lvl 85 character can successfully travel, you get a port to 2 moons (the horde base there) and you can make it to Aki pretty easily (I have a lvl 10 stationed at her). You can also do ok in 4 winds if you can get a ride to Halfhill. So that's 2 more tamers you can hit.Lolfixheal wrote:DK is 85 can't venture around MoP
I would buy a port to 2 moons and set your hearth there, then you have access to the Kara tamer, the Winterspring one, Major Payne, the OL tamer and 2 in MOP. If you can do 6 tamers a day you should get the stones you need pretty quickly and you'll also get some good xp for your toon.
Also, you mentioned not having much gold, sell some extra pets on that AH. You might not get a great price for them but you could earn a little gold at least enough to get you started.
Re: Upgrading Horde pets as Alliance
Your Hordie should have access to all the pets your ally toons have it does not matter they are different servers, I think caging some duplicates even if your ally has to go farm or buy some of the newest Isle dropped pets, you can then cage them on the Horde toon and sell on AH to make nice gold to buy flawless stones.
