Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
...appears to be fixed now following maintenance There were already the few exceptions that you didn't need but now it seems the hatchlings were added to that list too as I received it after logging in post-maintenance.
Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
Finally!! Just checked myself to confirm
Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
Urgh it's still fully bugged for me. I wonder what causes it to be fixed for some and broken for others.
EDIT:
I got the 250 unique pets Achievement, Upon getting this for some random reason my Eastern Kingdoms Safari randomly went off. So I am now properly credited for that Achievement.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
There are 4 pets I already own in my Journal that are not counting toward this achievement for me, the Red and Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling, the Crimson Moth, and the Cockatiel.
Do I need to try to capture any of these to make it give me the achievement?
Thanks in advance.

Still bugged for me - Wharf Rat, Crimson Moth, Cockatiel, three dragonhawk hatchlings - all of which are in my pet journal. Total mystery.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
Seems the bug resolves itself once you have tamed all of the pets from within a safari. Just a moment ago, I was still showing a half dozen Pandaria pets as untamed, even though they are in my stable. I collected the last one I was actually missing (a simple Sandy Petrel, hidden amongst mobs that wanted nothing more than to eat my face), and ding, achievement earned [Pandaria Safari]... and now when I look at the achievement, they're all showing as tamed.
So basically, we just have to remember which of the pets in the achievement we actually did tame, so we don't waste our time looking for them. Then once we have captured all of the necessary pets for a safari achievement, it will show.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
I know why some pets are being shown as not being tamed by the way.
Sometimes you capture a pet and then it gets killed by an AoE spell while they're in the cage, or even by a DoT I think that's possible too. You get the pet anyway, but the cheever bugs as a result. Well, the achievement will at first display it as tamed, but then 5 minutes later you look again and the checkmark is gone and it shows as not tamed yet.
For me, no matter what my cheever was saying, if I had already tamed all the pets in the list, it would give me the cheever in the end anyway.
Which is weird though, is that when I change characters, these safari cheever do not display the same way from one character to another. The one I did on the horde side says it's not done on my alliance toons, and vice versa. But in both cases, they both are counted in your battle pet points anyway and will count normally torwards the related achievements.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
That hasn't been the case with me, Zaelo.
Case in point, I tamed three Wharf Rats, each with plenty of life remaining, and the sucker is still not showing up as tamed in the safari achievement. I believe specific pets are just bugged, and this is one of the ones I've read many people have a problem with, same as the BE purchasable dragonhawks.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
Oh weird, must be more than one bug going on with these then... somewhy not surprised at all though
Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
mine was still bugged when i got it, i captured the last pet i needed there and bam achiev and then it was fixed not showing the dragonhawks etc
Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
This is a bug they're aware of and say will be fixed in the user interface in 5.1; there are a handful of pets (wharf rat, crimson moth, feverbite hatchling, devouring maggot, etc.) that seem to not show up semi-randomly in the achievement progress. As noted above, they ARE actually being counted, the tracking is bugging. Look at my pet collection, for example; using Armory tracking, I have under 400 unique pets... including Venus, which is the reward for getting 400 unique pets...

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
On topic though, FINALLY caught a Baby Ape in STV (happened to check on my warrior I had parked there, and blam, rain... I'd have kissed the ground if I could). Caught a grey which is fine with me as I've no plans of using him (not a fan of the monkeys).
And sure enough, get the ape and blammo... achievement unlocked for Eastern Kingdoms Safari. All the missing pets that I had tamed were suddenly there.
Now for Kalimdor. Sadly that one won't be done until next friggin' summer thanks to the Qiraji Guardling.

Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
Well, I stumbled across the solution to my problem. I tamed a Crystal Spider in Winterspring and BAM! got my Eastern Kingdoms Safari achievement. Strange because I have no idea where they are in Eastern Kingdoms.
Re: Eastern Kingdoms Safari...
I'm pretty sure that the Pet Journal says these are available in Dun Morogh, which isn't accurate. Apparently, if the Pet Journal has something listed as available in Eastern Kingdoms (even if it isn't actually available there) you need to have it for the achievement.Arcana wrote:Well, I stumbled across the solution to my problem.
