Did the XP grind change?

Back in the day when my wife and I were concentrating on getting pets leveled up to 25 we would frequent the pets in 4 winds and take our lowbie pet and pair it with a beast and flying to power level it up.

Now back then, we found that if we used just 1 extra pet the entire fight the power leveled pet would get over 1000 XP around levels 16ish. If I had to use both lvl 25 pets throughout the fight the XP got cut slightly.

Today, I'm finding that im seeing around 929xp regardless if I use 1 or both my level 25 pets. The XP is exactly the same thing.

I went through all the patch notes I could find and never did I see anything talking about experience changing for pet battles. Can anyone point me in the direction that has that info?

I would think if it has changed it is included somewhere in this thread perhaps?

I believe it was a change in patch 5.1 or 5.2 where max level pets could no longer soak up experience levels.
