We'll need both small plots and medium plots in WoD. If the Pygmy Cow is indeed removed/pushed back for future release, we'll still need both the available medium plots for the Inn/Tavern and Trading Post. Both buildings yield a pet or two.

I'm unsure about the cow, though. Prior to today's build it was still in the Pet Journal with the "unused" name. I figured it was a mistake, since the mount that was labeled "Pygmy Cow" was also renamed to "unused". They've already kind of confirmed that a cow mount isn't going to happen any time soon, so it could have been an accidental rename to the pet that they have kind of confirmed will be released.

I'll have to check the beta after today's patching/maintenance is over.

The Menagerie dailies might be changing. I have yet to test it myself, but it would seem that there's a new version of the [url=http://wod.wowhead.com/quest=37644]Mastering the Menagerie[/url] daily (old one can be [url=http://wod.wowhead.com/quest=37248]found here[/url]). Once you unlock it and upgrade to lvl 3, it replaces the original daily ([url=http://wod.wowhead.com/quest=36483]Battle Pet Roundup[/url]/[url=http://wod.wowhead.com/quest=36662]Scrappin'[/url]). Or it could be possible that the original daily is removed completely? I'm not sure.

The new MtM daily simply requires you to defeat whichever pet visits your Menagerie for that day. Same as the original daily, except MtM rewards a bag which may contain a new pet.

Going from the level 2 daily to level 3 daily will yield the same number of Pet Charms (8).

Related note: The vendor at your Menagerie now sells a Mystery Bag for 2 charms that contains a random family-specific leveling stone. She's lost the ability to trade Marked Flawless Battle-Stones for 3 of a kind, though.

As a small update to the whole "1k gating" topic...

They've finally implemented (almost all) the wild pets in Draenor. The encounters consist of 3 pets now instead of 1 (except for wild pets found in Frostfire Ridge, which are still single pet fights...likely a bug).

There are currently 26 wild pets out of a total of 96 new pets coming in WoD. I decided to see just how far I'd get with the 1k achievement while collecting the new wild pets.

• Started at 500/1000 pet battles in Draenor.
• Collected all but 2 (possibly 3, but one pet is still unconfirmed) wild pets, only a few were not captured as rare quality.
• Total battles after collecting all available wild pets: roughly 650

Considering that beta has much more favorable conditions than live, I'd estimate that you'd get maybe a few hundred more battles in while collecting just the new wild pets from Draenor. That being said, you'd still probably only end up at about 500 battles after all's said and done. (This isn't taking into consideration using wild battles as a way to level your pets.)

So while I'll grudgingly undergo the 1k gating because pets, I still think a lower number would probably be more fitting. 500-750 would probably be appropriate. Oh well. Just my two cents.

As an addition, with access to rare stones being a lot easier, not to mention a lot of us have dozens of stones left over from MoP, a lot of people will just be grabbing one of the new pets and stoning it if they don't get it rare off the bat. So we could literally be "done" with Draenor pet battles with as low as 30ish battles... 1000 really is too many.

They do, but there are only 6 Draenor trainers and one daily from the Menagerie. The trainer dailies are account-wide so you can only complete 6 per day total, but the daily from the Menagerie doesn't appear to be and can be completed per toon. I guess you could just create/level a ton of alts to 98 and rack up some battles that way...? =\

Finally, not sure if the cup was spawning under some hay or what, but I finally got it today on the horde side, it does not glow like all other clickable items, and is called a "Glass of Warm Milk.

Absolutely. MoP has gone on forever and I've saved up stones specifically so I wouldn't have to hunt rares in WoD. Now I have to waste time on wild pet battles anyway.

Finding the wild pets in the new xpac should be fun and exciting. Instead it's going to be a huge chore: we're going to absolutely hate the wild pet content in WoD if this gating stays as it is.

Well I am still missing over 20 stones from having everything rare quality so I will probably be working to capture most of the draenor wild pets in rare quality, which will likely give me most of the 1k pet battles, although I do still agree that its a bit high number, 500 would have been lot more reasonable.
