Dragonkin vs. Magic = illogical
It does not make sense to me to have a bonus that is ineffective. Onyxian Whelpling for example, has the potential to take-out a magic pet with Deep Breath, but a magic pet won't take more than 35% on a single attack. This pretty much makes pointless any bonus to the ability. And since that ability will never get the green arrow against other types, it just becomes a poor choice. How is it logical to give a boost, but then make it ineffectual? Or is that more common than I think . . .
Re: Dragonkin vs. Magic = illogical
which means its much more beneficial to use smaller damage packets as a dragon vs magic pets. Tail slap fits the bill perfectly. Dealing its damage in 2 hits and doing extra damage against the enemy pet.

Re: Dragonkin vs. Magic = illogical
Yeah there are a couple of dragonkin moves that are really big hits that don't make sense against magical creatures because of their racial but given the nature of the magic racial it was bound to happen to someone unless they had no large moves at all. As was pointed out tail swipe very effective, assuming you are slower, and Flame Breath and a couple others with dmg + dot are pretty good too.
