Menagerie Roadmap?

So has someone put together a "roadmap" of sorts for the ideal menagerie? Something that outlines "build this here at this point, build this here at this point" kind of thing?

There isn't really an "ideal" Menagerie since there's no special/unique way you can change plot. It's a static building that's available to everyone.

You can unlock it at player level 100 (it requires garrison level 3), and then upgrade it to level 2 after purchasing the blueprints from the vendor (should be available immediately after unlocking it). After that, you just need to grind out 500 battles in Draenor for level 3 blueprints.

Do battles only count in the total after you build the menagerie or does it count battles done earlier... I'm at work today

Battles count towards the 500 achievement regardless if you have the Menagerie built. It doesn't matter if you start pet battling as soon as you enter Draenor or after you've built the Menagerie at max level. So long as you win battles within Draenor, it counts!

Also, we confirmed yesterday that PvP battles fought in Draenor count toward the 500.

You sure about that part? In beta, I got the quest for the level 1 Menagerie at 98 (which made sense since the mines were 92, the shack 94 and the garden 96).

Yea, they changed it towards the end of the beta. I leveled up a new 90 on the beta and was expecting to see the unlock quest for the Menagerie at level 98, but to my disappointment I couldn't even place the plot down until I had upgraded my garrison to level 3.

If anything, perhaps they reverted that change now that WoD is live. We can only hope!

Update: Can confirm that you cannot build the Menagerie at level 98. Oh well.

Well, regardless, it's going to be a bit for me I think. I don't have tons of time to play with, work and all. And the servers have not been the kindest either with all the down time and huge log-in queues of up to 190 minutes. I've never seen this before, especially on my medium-pop server.

Saw you were right before I got back here. Made me sad. Getting the 2,000 garrison resources before getting the menagerie is annoying!

I came here to find out what was going on with the Menagerie, since so many guides still wrongly list that it can be started at level 98, yet a prerequisite is that your garrison be level 3, which you cannot do until level 100. Did Blizzard goof on this, or is this intended? I wish you had a choice to pick which of the bound plots (mine, herb garden, fishing shack and menagerie) you got to unlock at each level, instead of the mandatory mine at 92>fishing shack at 94>herb garden at 96>menagerie at 100... I know some people could care less about fishing, and would rather have the herb garden at 94 to start gathering herbs, and of course there are those of us that want the menagerie at level 92, =P

None of the "guides" online mention anything about the level 2 Menagerie. Did I waste 1000 gold on buying this plan? Should I have just waited until I unlocked the level 3 plans?

I don't think you can jump from level 1 Menagerie to level 3, so no, you didn't waste your gold. You need to upgrade to level 2 Menagerie before upgrading to level 3.

I think you have to learn each one, but I've never tried buying just the highest level. I'm curious to find out now; time to level an alt for testing!

Ok, another thing I noticed. I had read that the "Working More Orders" achievement counts all work orders account-wide, but I leveled a couple alts to the Garrison to get more work orders pumping and it doesn't seem to be counting any of those. What gives? What do you guys know about this? Does it count account-wide orders, or is it only on the one toon?
