1545 pets
We're in Shadowlands Beta! There's more to test, including some Pet Battle content. Note that there are NO Beta keys, and access is still invite only.
Additionally, Blizzard recently posted a blog post regarding upcoming Pet Battle changes in the expansion. [source]
Pet Battles In Shadowlands
Some key notes from the blog post include:
- No plans for a new pet charm currency in Shadowlands. Polished Pet Charms will continue to be the standard currency to buy vendor pets, consumables, and cosmetics.
- New pet abilities and mechanics will be added in Shadowlands
- Redesigned multiple abilities
Changed abilities include, but are not limited to the following.
- Black Claw + other flat damage taken increasing abilities
- Hunting Party, Flock + similar multi-round abilities
- Shattered Defenses debuff
- Twilight Meteorite + similar long-cooldown team-damage abilities
- Jar of Smelly Liquid
- Righteous Inspiration
- Last but not least, some healing abilities will have their variance adjusted or removed
What Blizzard plans on changing and why is detailed in their blog post. Keep in mind that this is still Beta, and these adjustments are subject to change as testing progresses.
They'll be monitoring how these changes impact older content as well as existing strategies for PVE encounters.
Those in Beta are encouraged to test old (and new!) Pet Battle content with the redesigned abilities, and to leave constructive feedback on the main Blizzard thread or on our forum thread.

Has there been any info on how many battle pets you are going to be able to have in Shadowlands? I know right now you can have 1500 and I'm almost full at this point. Is it going up?
@Lleyla I hear the changes go into effect in the prepatch (perhaps a week away!)
Will these changes go live with the 9.0 prepatch or with the Shadowlands launch?
Thank you for all the work you do for this page. I was curious if there has been any news concerning PVP Honor Points acquisition, possibly nerfing the pain of obtaining Bucketshell/Sir Snips?
Please nerf Anomalus. I didn't see any proposed changes to this pet, and if this remains true then it will continue to be the meta in pvp.
There are some pet battles on Argus and in the Tanaan Jungle that I use Zandaleri Raptors to win. Hunting Party and Black Claw being changed will likely make those battles different, maybe profoundly.
I still have some pet battles to finish on Argus, i'd best get them done before these changes.
Oh boy, I sure feel silly now for stopping all pet dailies once I'd levelled everything (pets, reps, gear). Oh well, gives me something to in the final six months of Shadowlands :')
That is awesome, because my main has been collecting pet charms for months!
@Noel: The devs says that no will be changes to the current currency and I will can use the actual currency in Shadowlands. Anyway I spent 500 coins to buy stones of direct to level 25. Just in case they think in change at the end.
I wonder if its worth our while to farm up pet charms or if they'll get reset come the expansion?
The healing change is going to remove the 10% variance from some abilities, the variance is already in game it just didnt work the way they had intended with some abilities.
