Pet Score Increase for Noncombat Pets
There have always been nine pets that have been a thorn in the side of our most accomplished pet collectors. If you fall into that category, you already know which pets they are:
- Alliance Balloon
- Chi-Ji Kite
- Guild Herald (alliance)
- Guild Herald (horde)
- Guild Page (alliance)
- Guild Page (horde)
- Horde Balloon
- Sky Lantern
- Yu'lon Kite
These nine noncombat pets have a base quality of uncommon. The problem is that even if you use a stone to upgrade them, the WoW Armory still reads them as uncommon when you update your collection. This has been a bug in the Armory for years, and a fix does not appear to be coming any time soon.
Therefore, we decided to do something about it on our end. We've changed the base quality of these nine pets to rare. This means that the next time you update your collection, you'll earn some additional points and finally see these pets disappear from your 'uncommon' stats.
True — everyone enjoys this increase, whether they used stones on these pets or not. But this was the only way we could address the bug on our end, and we think most of you will agree that it's a welcome change.
Smart Pet Search: Community Rating
Our Smart Pet Search now includes new parameters to find pets according to their community ratings. This includes both Battle Rating and Appearance Rating.
This simple addition makes it possible to zero in on the best possible pet (as deemed by our users) for any situation.
Other Updates
This round of updates includes a couple more changes to improve your use of our site.
- Home Page Forum Groupings
Our home page now separates the most recent posts on our trading forums from our other forums. This will make it easier to quickly find the posts that interest you most right from our front page. - New Ability Tag: Transformation
We've added a new tag to our database of pet abilities. You can now filter abilities that have a transformation effect, i.e., the ability causes the pet to transform from one battle type to another. You'll find this new filter under 'Combat Effects.'
Our Thanks to You!
The feedback and ongoing support you give us make updates like these possible. As always, thank you for helping us to help you!
Ummm, your transformation page is missing an ability - "Feathered Frenzy" which the Apexis (and corrupted?) Guardians use to change from Mechanical to Flying
They can be leveled! Just like they can be upgraded to rare, you simply use a level up stone. I did on mine :)
Nice addition, another one you should consider is "Pets at Max Level", since those pets cannot be levelled they are at max level and should be treated as such.
Might just be my OCD :)
Awesome change! :)
The Ethereal Soul-Trader is a combat pet, so I don't understand why the Pages/Heralds couldn't be. Is it only because of the size?
Yeah, you can't actually upgrade the Sky Lantern to rare (or level it) but the rest of them you definitely can and the armory reflects none of it. I agree, making it a manual user input would be the better option for these pets. Still, making them rare to get them out of the uncommon group is nice, at least.
Thank you, great to get them last few commons out of my collection. Any chance to make them level 25 to match the level of my other pets :P
Doing it for all the 700+ pets there are nowadays is too tiring but these 9 very special ones it's kind of rewarding.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining because it's unfair for all those who put the effort (I don't believe this is a competition) but I like the collections to be accurate.
I'm sorry to say, but I don't like how this has been addressed.
In my opinion it should have been user-entered as it was the old WarcraftPets, before the Armory import feature. Why?
- They are not actually rare by default, and even the Sky Lantern can't be.
- Level is still not reflected, and many people put even more effort on leveling them than just improving their rarity.
- It's cool for collectors to manually come and enter their effort.
Thanks alot! I'm so glad to hear this! Too bad I wasted a stone or two making them rare. I didn't even realize it wasn't showing or making a difference. So tyvm! :)
Thanks! This does ease my OCD heart, lol. Thanks for all the hard work keeping this site great.
Thank you for doing something about those uncommons... they've been bugging me for ages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
bless you kind souls!!!! it took me weeks to find out why my pet journal showed only rare pets and on here it didn't. I kept thinking I was missing pets!! WOOHOOOOO!!!! y'all RAWK!!!
This brings tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you <3 <3 <3
Sadly the armory doesn't show when you level these pets to 25 via leveling stones either, but its definitely doable (except sky lantern, it can't be stoned to rare or to 25).
@Veyska I'm not 100% sure, but I think this same Armory bug will prevent the additional levels gained on these nine combat pets from adding to your score. Can anyone confirm that they've done this and it worked? The pets should show up in your collection as level 25.
Since the cat's at least half out of the bag I'll also point out you can level them to 25 too, via stones. *cough* Might have been known already but wasn't clear in the post so figure hey what the heck why not. This applies to pretty much every minipet that can't be used in battles except the Sky-Lantern because it's "bugged" and won't take rarity stones or leveling stones. Animation flashes but the stone's not used (thankfully) and nothing changes about it.
Great News!
Thank you :-D
