Always on the lookout for a fight or some tasty grass, Zao keeps his head down and eyes forward.
Looks awesome, but too slow to be useful in pvp and lackluster moveset. Has "Wish" heal which is useful in pve occasionally and not on many pets. You'll get force swapped and rocked if you try this in pvp.
for celestial tourney, i used skybo H/S (2,1,1) iron starlett H/P (1,2,1) and lil bling (2,-,1) skybo was the only one that died and my other 2 were over 1/2 health
My opinion on Zao: it's a lovely Beast pet, but lackluster relative to Xu-Fu. I would take Xu-Fu much sooner over Zao. In fact, I think Zao was the last Celestial Tournament pet I obtained.
But where Xu-Fu is a great pet all its own, I think Zao's strengths reside in team play through PvP Pet Battles. Zao makes a phenomenal damage/support pet in Sunlight teams using Trample + Wish + Niuzao's Charge -- it's becoming a new favorite of mine.
He defeated Lucky Yi all by himself with charge, headbutt and trample.
Just got him today! so cute! looks great with the grey riding yak mount & tank cloak proc - totally thrilled. Followed some strats on wowhead comments worked a treat to help get this lil guy :)
In PvP I feel this pet is a bit weak, even though it has Wish. Mostly because it's moves are telegraphed in advance, unless you skip Wish and go with Headbutt. This makes it easy to counter with a stun or evade move. Trample need Sunlight to be effective otherwise you should go with Horn Gore. One nice thing is to use a multi turn stun(stun seed, elementium bolt, ice tomb) and switch and do the Charge, will hurt alot. Still a bit too predictable for my taste.
This is a great pet for PvE with wish and his charge, on top of that horn gore is quite powerful, however in PvP it is less effective since the charge is easily countered. (Sorry about not linking the abilities, every time I tried to link my app crashed!)
The pet itself-STROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NG Beast pet, I can't stress this enough, he can clobber most any critter comp in game with Wish, charge, and trample. Just a stellar beast pet to have, plus who DOESN'T want a tiny yak following you around mooing at you.
The Battle to aquire him-Easily bested with a Thundering Serpent Hatchling and Zandalari Kneebiter(P/P).
Start with Thundering Serpent Hatchling, lead with Lightning Storm, let him kill you with his charge, swap to Kneebiter, Black Claw, Hunting party, He'll be dead by either second, or 3rd round of HP every time.
would be nice if some of these comments actually pertained to the pet rather then the boss/battle that it resembles. Was hoping to find comments about whether it was a good pet or not but all of these celestial pets are filled with comments on how to beat the fights. sort of annoying
He is a cute 'lil bugger and does quite well in Pet PvP battles.
