Known to flourish in the rainy season, this insect is drawn to lightning storms.
I love the moths, espically this one. Â Huge cannon on my team.
Strangley one of these showed up as a secondary in a battle with an Ashwing Moth on the Timeless Isle for me. Â Not sure if that's common or not. Â I haven't done many wild pet battles on the TI so I was surprised to see it there.
Found rare as primary under the cherry blossom trees at the Arboretum.
Took about 15 battles and I got a rare HS.
Lots of spawns were up and they respawned quickly, should be an easy farm for you.
I would suggest hunting for your rare Garden Moth around the same time you're hunting for rare Wild Jade/Golden/Crimson Hatchlings. These moths are plentiful as primary's in the area around The Arboretum where the Hatchlings spawn.Â
This one surprised me. I have never been a big fan of the moth (I hate fighting them) but I needed a flying pet at high lvl fast so I captured this uncommon one in the Jade Forest. We only supposed to be temporary until I could train a replacement but ended up being a regular. It does great damage and most of the pets I fight miss hitting him about 40% of the time.Â
Found a rare as a background pet. Had been dropping battles though looking for rares so I dropped to heal up and then re-engage. Wouldn't you know as I dropped a tiger in the area ran up and killed the critter and left me staring at a critter corpse! Lol. I really dislike the durability loss from dropping battles when trying to grind rares.
Gotta love my level 25 rare garden moth for wild pet battles. It just does so well and is so fast where my other pets lack. Sure, it's not necessarily the best for PvP or even higher end tamer battles, but it was my first max level pet and a go-to for wild encounters.
My favorite moveset is typically [Alpha Strike] [Cocoon Strike] [Moth Dust], maybe switching out for [Adrenaline Rush] if facing an Undead enemy, or if you aren't statted for speed.
Found them all around the pink trees around The Arboretum as trackable pets (not just as secondaries). It did happen to be raining when I caught my rare and I had not done the quests in that area on the toon that I caught them with (if either of those things make a difference).
Got my rare as an add with a mirror strider near Pearlfin villiage in Jade Forest. I was using the Pet Quality Notifier addon and the mirror strider happened to be rare too! Never had that before. Chose the moth over the strider as it has better stats
It's stats are:
lvl 22
HP - 1244
Attack - 257
Speed - 243
Garden moth- lvl 22Â (C)
3rd position of a Grove Viper (U/C)
Time:Â 1:50am server time
Date:Â Â 11/2/2012Â (non-seasonal, non-holiday)
weather:Â Â Clear night
Location:Â 36,46Â ;Â approx 803yrds West of Dawn's Blossom (near the river)
After reading the other comments I decided to skip on the Viper upgrade and instead ensure to have at least the one Garden Moth. Although common, he did do some damage.
Just had a rare garden moth show up as a back up for a coral adder. had an unfortunate crit and lost him.
Weather was sunny.
Found these around the "Jade Temple Grounds" at loc 53, 55 which came as a add from a Temple Snake, fought about 20 mobs before I seen one and stupid me kills it, also beware lots of mobs in the area that will argo, before you know it you can have 2-5 mobs on you so pick you spots to fight carefully.
Also there is a few other pets you need from this zone that you can get from here like Temple Snake, Garden Frog, Jumping Spider and others I can't think of now. Good place to farm Rares
