Patch 5.4.0 | Posted: September 10, 2013
This pet drops from Scary Sprites which have a chance to spawn when defeating Angry Sprites on the Timeless Isle.
Under normal circumstances, the Angry Sprites are Nice Sprites. These creatures become hostile once a player clicks on the Neverending Spritewood, which spawns in the general area of the sprites. Only the user of the crystal may attack the sprites.
Players will only have one minute to kill as many Angry Sprites, and ultimately Scary Sprites, before all mobs return to a friendly state.
Once a Scary Sprite has spawned, it's important to switch to that mob and kill it immediately. Any undefeated Scary Sprites remaining after the time is up will simply disappear.
Because there is a short time limit to how long the event lasts, it's advised to use as many consumables as possible. These include flasks, food buffs, pre-pots, and player buffs. Other abilities that increase your damage and/or reduce damage taken is also helpful.
The Neverending Spritewood has a repsawn time of about 15 minutes. Keep in mind that each character may use the crystal only once each day.

While fascinated by flowers, the frolicker has also been known to dance with blades of grass and the occasional weed.
Such a nice looking pet with such a crappy moveset... so sad.
@Varanid Don't worry, some times logging helps. I had the same issue with my count and it was fixed the next time I logged on.
I am wondering if any of you know what this pet couts as? What type of pet is it becuase I had 119 pets towards the Managerie Achievment and after learning this and taming a water ele, and a snail, none of these 3 went towards the achiev. Patch day was yesterday, and after work I purchased a zandalari toenibbler and he counted, so I am confused.
This pet is severely underrated because people aren't using the S/S version. The stun combined with the 50% extra dodge, with good rng I frequently level entire teams of 3 in PVP with just a single S/S frolicker. Highly underrated pet if used correctly, and the price is dirt cheap now if you don't wanna farm it.
Just bought it off AH for 350, so much easier!
The respawn for the purple crystals are now down to 15 minutes and the spawns are easier to kill. However you can only click on the crystal and DPS the adds once per day. The number of spawns seems to vary a lot. I did it today and got no Scary Sprites at all. Run to tree to engage more sprites. You can herb the dead Scary Sprites and will get herbs, buffs, junk. I have herbed any scaries I see but no pet drop. Doubt you can get it that way.
I think my pet breed addon is bugged :D its listing the one I just got as B/B yet its lvl 1 stats are of one that's a S/S
I believe they've increased the scary sprite spawn rate as others have mentioned. I had one spawn as soon as I started attacking. Killed a total of five of them that attempt, but still no pet :( Perhaps they lowered the drop rate to make up for actually letting us get the scary sprites now?
Did they fixed the spawn rate of the Scary Sprites? Managed to get around 7 today on my druid (545, fully buffed with isle buffs, popped all cds and used Hurricane for the whole minute).
Got my Dandelion Frolicker s/s :D I was really mad because I had 1 or none spawning for me on this event for the last couple weeks.
After waiting for nearly an hour for the crystal, a hunter (who I later found out had no idea what the crystal did) knabbed the crystal while I took literally 5 seconds to eat one of those +STATS apples nearby. The hunter spawned one Scary and did not down it. I cried a little on the inside. But my fret was very short lived. I got the next crystal spawn and a total of 9 Scaries popped! I saw green sprites everywhere. I downed eight and POP, proud owner of a Frolicker.
Watched a warlock do this tonight who spawned & killed a total of NINE scarey sprites but got no pet!! That is just wrong!
wondering what the drop is off the scary sprite since its apparently not 100%
I've probably done this more than ten times, though mostly as the one healing the DPS that attacks. I've seen a spawn of a Scary Sprite as low as 67k DPS, and no spawn as high as 300k DPS. I've also seen one Scary Sprite instant pop up at the beginning of an event.
I've seen as many as four Scary Sprites show up at one event, though the person fighting them only downed one of them.
And the timer seems to be as consistent as most rare mobs, spawning from 30-60 minutes after the last crystal appearance.
This pet is cageable, bought mine on the AH for a mere 18k. Have also done the purple crystal thang 3 times now and no scary sprites yet.
Got this pet today on the 5th day. I do 900k DPS over 60sec with a sum of 50m-60m total damage done, roughtly spawn 2-3 scary sprite (I also believe you cannot spawn more than 3).
IMPORTANT: This pet is on a shared loot table, all the people in the group can need/greed on this pet unless you set to ML.
happy hunting
Done this a couple of times now, leaving a big pile of angry sprites but still not seen the scary sprite spawn :/
This pet is cageable according to wowhead ^.^
I did this yesterday and I killed about 20 of the angry sprites and I got no spawn of a scarey sprite so not real sure what the deal is.
To obtain this pet, you must interact with a Neverending Spritewood. They are large purple crystals that appear in the rock walls around the Nice Sprites. These Neverending Spritewoods spawn at (47.90, 73.50), (44.73, 70.45) (45.00, 75.74) and (46.30, 71.00).
What you Should Know:
The Sprites all have about 300k HP and hit for 7-12k each. Do not get overzealous.
- You can only click on the Neverending Spritewood once per day, per toon. But if you're in a group with someone else, you will still get loot from the adds they kill.
- Only the person who clicked the Neverending Spritewood can DPS the adds.
- You have only one minute to kill the adds before they despawn or turn friendly.
- Roughly 1 hour spawn timer.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY:
You CAN group with people for this mob and take turns doing crystals and DPS'ing the Sprites. The pet is on a shared loot table, so everyone will get to roll on it.
Happy Hunting!
