The BoP schematic that teaches engineers how to craft his pet can be purchased from Micro Zoox for 1 Pristine Gizmo.
Engineers must be player level 120 to learn this recipe.
Players can earn Pristine Gizmos from the account-wide weekly quest, Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomeregan.

The Mechantula was created by an unknown gnomish Engineer. Rumor has it when the original schematic was found, it was in a room covered with dusty old webbing, but neither the original Mechantula or the engineer who drafted the schematic could be found.
This fella is very handy for leveling Engineering beyond the 125 mark. Not only are the mats cheap, especially compared to other suggested recipes such as the Expulsom-devouring Precision Attitude Adjuster, but it sells pretty well.
Once it goes gray, you're one Darkmoon Faire turn in away from cap.
Rebuilt Mechanical Spider and Mechantula are the only 2 mechanical pets (so far) to have Sticky Web.
It's strange that Sticky Web is strong vs critters because critters are immune to it. There is no way to take advantage of the Spiderling Storm facet (deals double damage if the target is webbed). A critter cannot be webbed.
