Patch 3.2.2 | Posted: September 10, 2013
The Grateful Dead quest can be obtained from any of the alliance or horde capital cities, as well as from Shattrath and Dalaran.
Level 0: 0 0 0
These possessed puppets are given a semblance of life by whimsical spirits of the departed.
When the human skeleton model was changed for BfA, this pet got changed indirectly. So blizzard didn't check to see if all its hat and shorts were still connected correctly. They weren't. And there's been two Days of the Dead since then, and no fix. It used to be a lot of fun. Keep sending bug reports about it to blizzard, and maybe they'll revert it.
Mine looks weird. His hat isn't sitting on his head like the picture and he just headbangs all the time!
After Overwatch came out I named him Reaper. ;D
Mao, it is not, you can do it with all your toons, but you will be able to include only three in your pet journal, make sure you start the quest within the graveyard of the city depending on the race of your toon , for instance for undead you have to take it from Undercity, Orcs from Orgrimmar and so on ...of course you need to buy the orange flowers and use them in order to see the cheerful spirit ..
Is the quest account-wide?
I made it on one character and didn't show up on the others.
The quest is yearly, not one-time only.
Once done, can be completed again in the next year.
Battlewise, he's not bad. I'm working on leveling him up and was able to take out a level 25 uncommon aquatic while he was still only 9.
Appearance speaking, this guy is AMAZING! He looks like he's headbanging all over the place. I realize that he is actually shaking maracas, but I digress. :)
Cute lil guy, fun animation!
This little guy is so cute, and if you win a battle with Dead Man's Party, there is a group dance of these guys.
A double counter to Dragonkin, strong attacks vs them and takes weak damage from dragonkin attacks. Death and Decay and Dead Man's Party last after you switch so you can make use of heals like Plagued Blood or Touch of Animus, or get alot of bonus damage with Black Claw. All in all a very nice killer of dragonkin and humanoids. Does lose some of it's oomph in Sandstorm. Also very cool model, what's not to like?
I love these pets, not only do they dance but they are also great against the celestial pets. I named mine Pablo, Juan, and Carlos.
I'm surprised nobody's pointed this out in the comments, but he's an awesome pet for dealing with dragons. Undead + Humanoid attack = dragonslayer supreme.
Has anyone had a problem with him showing up in your pet list? I can find him in my list, and amafraid of switching out my second one.
Aparently it's an issue with one of my pet add ons.
I just want to let you know that if you are Pandaren, you can go to Shattrah and do this quest to get the Macabre Marionette. The helpful info that I couldn't find anywhere that I'm going to share with YOU? The grave yard is right OUTSIDE of Shattrath between Shattrath & Cenarion Thicket. Hope that helps!
[Horde]I'm sure others found them easier but what I did was: head to Orgrimmar Valley of Strength innkeeper - she sells the ice cold milk, then I went to Dalaran cooking trainer area - the vendor that sells cooking recipes next to him sells the simple flour, (also sold in at the Goblin area in Orgrimmar next to the cooking trainer there for lower level toons) then I went to Chapman in Dalaran as well - he is sandwiched between the stairs to Tanaris Portal and Enchanting Trainer. Bought his marigold bouquet, equipped it, used it and did the simple quest right there for the pet. He sells the bread of the dead recipe. Then I typed /dance with Catrina for the achieve. Oh for those with toons that don't have cooking, even tho the bread is of limited use and cannot be mailed, a friend found that if you place them in the guild bank, they can then be taken out by others ^.^ (he IS cageable)
I believe that to complete this quest on a Pandaren character you would need to head to either Shattrath or Dalaran. Other races are in their home cities; if you're looking for coordinates on Wowhead, search "The Grateful Dead" and your character's race.
You can also do this in Dal or Shat on any race, IF your not sure where your home town is. Remember you will need to use the "use" on the flowers to see the quest giver. Seems a silly thing to remind people but I can't tell you how many people were asking in trade earlier so I thought it worth mentioning. Then again I just refer people to this sight. Everything one could ever want to know is always here! :) And @ Fontis12 times are always server for future events. :)
Went looking for this quest giver this morning, relized it is race specific, so go to your toons home town, SW-human, Darn-Nightelf/Worgen, IF-Dwarf and so on, not sure where to take my Panda, I would assume SW. Took my Dreani Warrior to the exodar location, then I looked at the event and realized it doesn't start until Noon server... so I will be back on later this afternoon to retrieve my pet.
The in game calander says the event doesn't start till noon. not sure if they mean game time or PST.. so i'm giving it till PST before i get too worked up about it if an alt doesn't work.
I can't find Chapman ANYWHERE. :( Without the flowers, can't see the quest giver, no matter what city you're in. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm guessing that it's a time problem, as my server is CT. Hopefully in a few hours, the flower-selling NPC will be visible!
