Over the last weeks I've checked on the new Dalaran pet tournament area ever day and made some notes. I'm quite sure that by now I have captured everything that is available so far, so I'd like to present a small summary
Keep in mind it's still alpha content and will amost certainly change very much before release.
The same summary including pictures of the tamers is also available here: http://wow-petguide.com/index.php?jumpto=47
The current "system" in the Dalaran arena is very similar to the garrison menagerie. Although there are no quests, achievements or any other kind of reward system present, every day there is a different Master Tamer or challenge present in the tournament ring. So far I have encountered 7 different opponents.
In contrast to the menagerie, the order in which they appear seems to be completely random. I've seen the same challenger three times in a row, others only once so far in 4 weeks. But what they all have in common is that currently they are not very hard to beat. I assume that before Legion release they will receive another pass with either new spells or higher stats or something along those lines.
Here's an overview:
- Sir Galveston (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99182)
He comes with epic-quality pets (which is quite a different to most of the others who have blue quality pets):
Sir Murkeston http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99186/sir-murkeston
Greatest Foe http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99187/greatest-foe
Coach http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99185/coach
Thanks to Sir Murkestons Falling Murloc spell, which can swap his pets around, the fight resembles a little bit fighting Tarr the Terrible, although his other pets, Greatest Foe and Coach, are rather easy to beat.
- Tiffany Nelson (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=97804/tiffany-nelson)
Jinx http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=97826/jinx
Rocket http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=97823/rocket
Marshmallow http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=97818/marshmallow
None of them have any particular special abilities, and thanks to the blue quality stats this fight is currently one of the easiest among all of the Dalaran opponents.
- Heliosus (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=105236/heliosus)
Once you beat him, a second stage of the fight starts in which the egg reappers. It has the same amount of healthpoints, but no spells at all. It only stays for five rounds however and if you do not manage to destroy it in those five rounds, the phoenix reappears from the ashes fully recovered and will fight you again.
These two stages repeat until you kill the egg entirely. However due to the large damage output of the phoenix you'll not likely survive that long.
The key to winning this fight is to keep debuffs or damaging spells on the phoenix right before it dies, because they carry over to the egg, giving you an advantage and making it easier.
- Amalia (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=107489/amalia)
Stumpers http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=107491/stumpers
Foof http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=107492/foof
Lil'Sizzle http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=107493/lil-sizzle
They are beat easily with almost any random team of pets thanks to their blue quality stats. But given their spells are quite diverse and not all of them are simply beast pets, they might pose a good challenge if given some proper stats!
- Splint Jr. (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=105241/splint-jr)
- Bodhi Sunwayver (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99210/bodhi-sunwayver)
Itchy http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99239/itchy
Salty Bird http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99243/salty-bird
Grommet http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=99245/grommet
- Stitches Jr. Jr. (http://legion.wowhead.com/npc=105840/stitches-jr-jr)
