It can be, as it looks like the chain stoped after i had none to lvl ill start it off again.

Outside of Squir what is the best for leveling a pet these days?
I noticed that the quest battles give bupkiss in the way of exp for carry pets these days.

Only the BFA world quests were changed. All the old tamers that gave good pet xp still do.
