My new Battle Pets blog
Quick FYI -- I removed the " - Warpets.info" portion of text from the title of this post. Having a domain name in the title causes a technical glitch that prevents some people from replying. It won't cause any conflicts now.
Keep up the good work, Enzzo. Sounds like people are really enjoying your blog.

Your Blog is one of the best contributions to Pet Battles that I have ever read. For me, my goal is to level pets and collect Battle Stones.
Your suggestions on how to two pet each tamer is Valueable and I urge everyone to read it.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Quick question on the Scourged Whelpling.... I see you mention favoring the P/S breed while most of what I've read pushes towards the H/H as the difference in HP is large compared to the small power gain and speed being irrelevant. I was able to get a P/S that is uncommon and wasn't sure if I should stone it or hold out for the other breed.
Great blog, going to really help me do high end trainers as I diversify my team with more 25s!

I have a P/S Scourged Whelpling and I love him, personally.Ysabell wrote:Quick question on the Scourged Whelpling.... Both Enzzo and I tend to favor Power-oriented pets, which means P/P, P/B, P/S or H/P - whichever gives the highest amount of power for that individual pet.
H/H pets do tend to have more health, yes - but they tend to actually be weaker because it takes significantly longer for you to deal damage, your shields absorb less damage, and your healing abilities generally heal you for less (unless they're percentage based, which most are not). The best tank I have is a P/P Emperor Crab.
There are a few pets where H/H (the humanoid special ability is percentage based) or S/S (some abilities hit MUCH harder if you go first) may be superior even when a Power breed is available, but they are far and few between.
A P/S Scourged Whelpling hits harder with his damage abilities, and because he's undead, he has a round of immortality anyway.
Personally, I'd stone the P/S and count myself lucky.
Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Yeah, the P/P Emp is my all-star. I suppose I'll give the P/S Scourged a shot to see how I like him. If not, there's always 5.2 to get another.

The Scourged Whelpling is vicious against straight dragonkin (ie: dragonkin using dragonkin abilities).Ysabell wrote:Yeah, the P/P Emp is my all-star. I suppose I'll give the P/S Scourged a shot to see how I like him. If not, there's always 5.2 to get another.
He takes less damage as an Undead and deals more with Call Darkness, since it's Humanoid.
And since even the P/S variety is pretty slow, you always go last with Tail Sweep - which not only deals more damage, but you double-dip on the healing from Plagued Blood.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Enzzo is on the road this week, and I have no idea if he had any posts already written and set to go up, but he'll be back as soon as he finds an internet connection I'm sure. In the meantime, I wanted to say thanks to the person who suggested Emerald Proto-Whelp for dealing with Mo'ruk. A healing pet who can stay ahead of the big damage hits was definitely a good way to make that fight easier. I've gone back to FFF and Nexus Whelpling because I'm a glutton for yelling at my monitor over RNG and a sucker for big hits, but the emerald worked well. I actually went through and beat every bag of pet supplies trainer using Emerald Proto-Whelp and Anubisath Idol just to see if I could, and one-shot all of them. Major Payne, Wastewalker Sho, and oddly Obalis for some reason (I think leading with Emerald on Obalis would have worked out better, and I made some bad choices of when to use what on Sho) were pretty touch and go and RNG could have cost me any of those fights, but it was amusing to do it at least once with the same pets for every trainer.
ETA: I see he made a post to explain he was moving. I suppose I could have checked that *before* posting this. I am very, very lazy.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
yes the emerald proto whelp is awesome. even though it is not strong against a lot of the fights i use it in with its reduced dmg and its heal the fights might go a little slower but it sure works.
for example the whispering spirit my emerald proto drake can take out almost all three pets tossing in a croc for good measure just in case i slip and it dies you can def. get a couple free lvls for a lower lvl pet.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Yay, I finally can reply here And so I do so.
I really like the blog. The trainer tactics have been quite helpful, and I just love the pet spotlights. Thanks to you my p/p random quality emperror crab got a stone and is now known as Kinch Pinch the Butcher
And for the dead whelp, I still have to see even a single one, but I think I'll be leaning towards the h/h breed - for lower speed for tail sweep mostly.

I found this site today and from what I've seen so far, it looks like a good resource site. I also blog about Pet Battles after trying it on the beta.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
I realized today how many strategies rely on the current FFF.
Definitely looking forward to seeing the new strategies come out of the new patch.
Also, Enzzo, your Burning Pandaren strategy just plain does not work for me.
I've no idea why it doesn't work, but I can't get Chrominius to survive the elemental spirit's dot.
So if you have an alternate strategy, I look forward to seeing it.
(I've been having good luck with an Anubisath Idol-based strategy this week)

I also noticed this when trying the guide, very RNG if chroma hits or not.Gendou wrote: Also, Enzzo, your Burning Pandaren strategy just plain does not work for me.
but yeh anub idol can kill all 3 pets. shame not going to work after patch
ninja edit:
seems like u are using Flayer Youngling on one of your guides, do you suggest upgrading P/P breed with a stone?
Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Thanks for the link to your blog. Since I am just starting out it will prove most helpful to me.
Re: My new Battle Pets blog
I've been doing Burning Spirit using Scourged Whelpling (Tail Sweep/Call Darkness/Plagued Blood) and a snail (Absorb/Shell Shield/Dive) along with a carry pet. Scourged Whelpling destroys Crimson and then gets a good amount of work done on the Fire Spirit before kicking the bucket. Snail can easily take out Fire Spirit and Glowy while I let my carry pet take a round against Glowy.Gendou wrote:Also, Enzzo, your Burning Pandaren strategy just plain does not work for me.

Hm... I might try that.Ysabell wrote:I've been doing Burning Spirit using Scourged Whelpling (Tail Sweep/Call Darkness/Plagued Blood) and a snail (Absorb/Shell Shield/Dive) along with a carry pet. I'd done the Scourged Whelpling before, and I use a Rapana Whelk with the Anubisath Idol for my current strategy.
But I hadn't tried the Snail and the Scourged Whelpling together before. I might give that a shot next time around.
Thanks for the advice.
Re: My new Battle Pets blog
Hey everyone Thanks for all the comments and support; it really means a lot to me. Now that I have my computer set up again, and I am getting some breaks from unpacking boxes, I'll be able to post more actively again.
I'm working on a revised Burning strategy to incorporate Anubisath Idol and Emerald Proto-Whelp, because that definitely works better. I'll also make a video for it to post on my youtube channel.
My comments about Scourged Whelpling are entirely theoretical, as I don't have a blue-quality one yet. So, take it with a grain of salt

Yes, I absolutely do.Moksu wrote: seems like u are using Flayer Youngling on one of your guides, do you suggest upgrading P/P breed with a stone?
Re: My new Battle Pets blog
I find that my Emerald Proto-Whelp P/P is a solid pet against almost any of the trainers. It crushes flyers and can stand up to most anything else as long as it does not do a lot of dragonkin type attacks.
I also use my P/P Emperor Crab extensively. I like them so much I got two. The combo of a big hit, the heal and always goes first ability is decisive. He even comes out on top almost all the time against Shu since the P/P hits harder and heals more efficiently with a big heal vs the HOT.
There is of course also the Anubisath Idol who is a champ. I use Enzzo's strat for Aki, it can take a bit but at this point it is almost as reliable as the Emperor Crab soloing Nishi.
I have used the strat for Yon, though I still often fall back on my P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp. It kills the bird almost as quickly as the Nether but takes less damage overall and I hate seeing that Miss come up. It seems just more reliable.

Re: My new Battle Pets blog
I've been using the bit about sandstorm blocking all damage from swarm to start off my level 1's on Aki for a while now. It'd probably be more useful if I said things like that instead of waiting until you mention it in some other circumstance to remember.
