Pets Helping YOU in Battle

I have a pet that "seems" to be helping me in battles as I quest. When I am in battle with some creature I find along the way, my pet appears to be following the NPC I'm doing battle with and not me. What it's doing, I'm not sure, but it seems to be attacking the NPC.

Any help or thought?

Some pets fall asleep, some run off(egbert), some turn you green(disgusting oozeling), some pets kill critters, perhaps some cuddle with the enemy what pet does this?

Which pet or what does it look like? It could be a trinket or item that summons a creature that fights/protects you. Unfortunately these aren't [url=http://www.warcraftpets.com/help/#nonpets]true vanity pets[/url], though.

I don't have the pet version of Pebble, but I know the one that follows you around on quests does the visual of "throw a rock at the enemy." I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything, and I don't know if the pet one does it, but this was the first thing to pop into my head when I read it...

ohoh, there is also a pet that heals you for 1 hp once in a while, isnt it? That one actually do help you in battles, however very little it may be.
