Anyone have some tips on leveling pets up? I desperately want the baby celestial pets but it's slow going so far leveling my stuff up

If you have access to the Pandaria daily battles, they are a great way to level your pets. There's tons of strategies on how to do them all with two pets and a "carry" pet that you level up through those battles. That's how I level mine.

get lesser pet treats from the BoF dailies and use a safari hat while doing the daily pet battles around pandaria.
